Chapter 2

I tried calling my parents, but no one answered.

Before Jone left, he told me that Eden had already been brought home.

Of course, no one cared whether I lived or died now.

So many years of familial ties were severed by a change in identity.

I was no longer myself.

I was like a clown in a cage, toyed with by them.

Eden had long told Jone about her identity.

Jone had only been with me to make my loss more painful now.

After a few days of recuperation in the hospital, the true daughter Eden came to see me.

"Isn't this the former Green family's eldest daughter? How did you end up like this?"

She stood before my hospital bed, dressed in the latest designer suit, her makeup immaculate.

Without even looking in the mirror, I knew what I must look like now.

I had disheveled hair and a swollen face.

"You're the real eldest daughter now. Go back home and enjoy your life. Why waste time here?"

I kept my head down, ignoring her, and continued peeling an apple.

This wasn't the first time I had met Eden.

She was the "sister" Jone had introduced to me, the kind girl who had helped him before.

She used to call me "sister" sweetly in front of me.

"Of course, I'm going to enjoy it. I've lost so many years, but I'm also here to see your misery. Otherwise, how could I feel satisfied?"

Eden's beautiful face twisted slightly, but in the next moment, she smiled again.

"And I'm already pregnant, carrying Jone's child. When I officially return home in a few days, we're getting engaged."

I snapped my head up, staring at her abdomen.

Because of this incident, my uterus was severely damaged, making it difficult for me to conceive again.

When I told Jone about it, he merely looked at me with contempt.

"You, an imposter, don't deserve to have my child. You gave in so easily when I coaxed you into bed, and now you expect me to take responsibility, don't you?"

My fingertip was cut by the fruit knife, a piercing pain shooting through my nerves.

I never imagined Jone would use this against me.

I had always prided myself on being reserved, always firmly rejecting Jone's advances.

But during a date, he got me to drink strong liquor, coaxing me while I was drunk.

He said we had already met each other's parents, that he loved me so much and would never let me down.

So I foolishly gave in.

I never expected that just that one time, I would find out I was pregnant.

I had planned to settle the marriage early before showing, but I never expected people's hearts change easily.

Now, I only regret not standing firm.

Eden's smug eyes looked at me, "Imposter, go back to where you belong."
