Chapter 3

When I saw off the movers and returned to my home, I found the door was actually open.

I cautiously pulled out the electric baton from my waist.

"You're back." Darren appeared at the end of the corridor and grinned at me.

I let out a long breath.

"How did you get in?" I asked unhappily.

"How dare you say that!" Linda scolded me while wiping her hair with my bath towel.

"We've been here for half an hour. It's raining so hard outside that we're all soaked. But you weren't at home and didn't answer the phone. We were almost freezing to death. If I hadn't called the locksmith company, I'd have died you got back."

As expected, Linda was still the same as before. Even if she did something wrong, she would blame others.

I wanted to go into the room to change clothes, but Darren stopped me at the door.

"Annie is pregnant, and she's delicate. She tossed all the way. Now she's sleeping in your bedroom. Don't mind."

Just when I was about to say something, Lucy came out of the bathroom wearing my silk nightgown.

"Ada, your electric water heater isn't working. I just used it for a while, but now, there's no hot water. You should change it to a gas one as soon as possible."

"That's right. Ada, since you've enough money, you should decorate the house to make it comfortable.

Look at the furnishings here, the sofa and the TV aren't good. The wall is only whitewashed...Tsk, tsk, tsk, tsk."

I smiled unhappily. They were always being that, having grandiose aims but puny abilities.

Their house in the village was just a rough construction, but they looked down on my small flat in the city.

I didn't bother to argue with them, so I just asked, "Where's Tina?"

They exchanged glances, and Darren humbly said, "Playing... on the balcony."

"It was raining outside. What did Tina play?"

I had a bad feeling and rushed to the balcony of the living room.

Because it was double-layer soundproof glass, Tina's crying couldn't be heard.

The two-year-old child stood at the door, crying helplessly.

Tina had no place to hide on the open balcony, so she could only be exposed to the rain.

I anxiously tried to open the glass door to save Tina, but to my surprise, the door was locked.

At this moment, I realized that it was not Tina who wanted to play outside, but they deliberately locked Tina outside.

I quickly brought Tina in. She was soaked and couldn't stop crying, with her body shaking.

Originally, I thought Darren and his family had taken care of Tina for many years and that I should spare their lives. But it seemed that it wasn't necessary.

"It's okay. Stop crying." Darren tried to cover Tina's mouth, and he looked towards the master room from time to time.

He might be afraid of waking up Annie.

I slapped his dirty hand away. Then, I held Tina and coaxed her gently.

"Mom, she's your granddaughter. It's raining heavily outside. How could you let such a small child get wet outside!"

I roared with all my might, and my words were full of grievances.

Linda ignored me as if she didn't hear my words, and she turned on the TV and watched it on the sofa.

Darren lowered his voice. "Don't make a fuss. Mom didn't throw Tina outside. Tina kept crying, which annoyed Annie.

None of us could comfort Tina, so we locked Tina outside to calm her down."

"Noisy! It's really annoying. I just fell asleep!" Annie supported her belly with her hands and came out of my master bedroom.

She was not the same woman I had caught in bed, and she was younger and prettier.

"Tina is just a little girl, but I'll give birth to a boy.

She disturbed me, so I had to lock her outside."

Seeing her self-righteous look, I wanted to slap her.

But I have a child in my arms.

"My little ancestor, you're pregnant now. Sit down and take a rest."

Linda was more concerned about Annie than Darren. She helped Annie sit on the sofa.

"Mom, your grandson is hungry. He wants to eat beef."

Annie said coquettishly, making Linda smile.

"Okay. No matter what my grandson wants to eat, I'll give," Linda turned to me and said,

"Ada, you're ignorant. We've been here for a long time. You're the host, but you don't even treat us.

Annie wants to eat beef. Do you have beef? Stew it."

"Host? So, they knew this house is mine."

I coaxed Tina and pretended to be nonchalant, "Mom, you can see that this house is small.

I bought it with a loan. My monthly salary is completely drained just by paying the loan and paying you child support.

Let alone beef. I can't even afford ham sausage now. All I have left in the house is some expired instant noodles that I stockpiled before Christmas."

Hearing my words, Annie pouted.

"Darren, you said you wouldn't treat me badly. I'm pregnant now, but there's no beef for me!"

Annie was about to leave, and Darren quickly stepped forward to stop her.

"Ada, could you be more sensible? You have no money. Fine. I'll give you some. Go out and buy some beef."

Then, he transferred fifty dollars to me.

During the rainstorm, with fifty dollars, I didn't even buy some pork, let alone beef.

I smiled and gave it back to him, "You go ahead. I don't want to eat beef."

After that, I took Tina into the master bedroom.

Ignoring the shouting and cursing from outside, I locked the door.

I gave the child a hot bath, and Tina's body was covered in bruises.

It was deep purple. I didn't know how much suffering Tina had gone through in that home.

She was also much smaller than other children of the same age.

It seemed that all the child support I gave over the years was spent by that vixen.

The little hands, which should have been smooth and tender, were covered with scars. Tina must have done a lot of housework at home.

While bathing Tina, I couldn't stop crying.

Tina wiped away my tears with her hands and said softly, "Ms. Green, don't cry."

I held her little hand and choked up, "I'm your mom."

Tina seemed to be stimulated by something, pulled back his hand, and said fearfully, "Ms. Lee doesn't let me call you mom. If I do, she will beat me."

Tina's words were like a knife stabbing my heart.

Sooner or later, I would let this knife stick in their bodies.

After giving her a bath, I got her some food from the bedside table and coaxed her to sleep.

At this time, Darren knocked on the door. In case of waking up Tina, I opened the door quickly.

I said impatiently, "What are you doing!"

"Annie has finished his meal and wants to rest."

Darren wanted me to vacate the master bedroom. I sternly refused. But he didn't give in and pushed the door open.

"Ada, can you have a little empathy? Didn't you feel uncomfortable when you were pregnant?"

How dare he mention it.

He just had sex with me and accompanied me to do prenatal checkups at the beginning.

After knowing the baby was a girl, he never came back home.

Linda wanted me to have an abortion, saying that a girl was a waste of money.

I tried my best to keep the baby, but they didn't treat me as a pregnant woman at all.

I was responsible for everything, including lighting the fire and cooking. I even took a taxi to the hospital myself for delivery.

So, it was definitely impossible for me to make allowances for Annie.

Darren supported Annie and squeezed me in.

Annie groaned in displeasure when seeing Tina lying on the bed.

Darren immediately picked up Tina and handed her to me, who was standing at the door.

"You and Tina sleep outside." Then, Darren pushed us out and closed the door.

Tina was half asleep, and I wanted to carry her to the second bedroom.

However, Lucy hugged her shoulders there. "Ada, now that you didn't let me eat well, you'd better let me sleep well. I don't like to share a bed with others."

I looked at Tina in my arms. I didn't bother arguing with Lucy, so I went to the living room.

But Linda was there.

Linda was lying on the biggest sofa in the middle, so I had to put Tina on the smaller sofa next to Linda.

I was thinking of staying here for one night.

But this stinking old woman deliberately turned up the TV.

I didn't tolerate Linda's bad habits, so I unplugged the TV.

"What are you doing? I need to listen to the TV to sleep."

Linda didn't change her irrationality.

"Tina is asleep. Could you stop making trouble here?"

"Why are you talking so harshly? I didn't touch Tina."

While quarreling, Linda spoke more loudly.

All the people who had entered the house came out at once. Even Tina was woken up.

Darren pointed at me. "What are you doing? You let no one have a good night. Mom is elder. Couldn't you accommodate her a little?"

"That's right. Ada, stop making trouble here. If you think we are troublesome, you can move out."

They were the same in my previous life, trying to force me and Tina away and take over my home.

After waking up, Tina started crying again, and Annie covered her ears.

Annie cried out, "You're always crying. Do you want to make me have a miscarriage?"

Once she pinned this crime on me, Linda became angry.

"Darren, transfer some money to Ada so that she can move out with Tina."

They should say this. This was my home.

Darren transferred me fifty dollars like last time.

Then, he picked up Tina and pulled me to leave us outside.

I couldn't resist him and was driven away.

The door slammed shut, and Tina's crying echoed in the corridor.

"Since you want to wait for death here, I'll help you."
