Chapter 2

Amy's POV

It was already getting dark by the time that I was done with training as a pack warrior. I noticed William as soon as I walked out of the building.

He was a sight for sore eyes. His blue eyes looked even more enchanting as he stared at me; they made his gorgeous face look alluring.

I couldn't bear looking at him, so I ignored him and walked away.

William didn't give up, instead he followed me and stated in a calm voice, “Alpha Mason has requested that everyone attend Kyle’s birthday party.”

Kyle was Alpha Mason's son and the next in line for Alpha. He was also William’s friend and he was slowly becoming my friend too.

I would have kept ignoring William, but since Alpha Mason ordered us to attend, I couldn't ignore him anymore.

I sighed as I muttered, “Alright.”

“Great, get in the car.” He commanded as he gestured towards his black SUV a few feet away from us.

Cara growled in my head at the command. We didn't like to be told what to do. Cara was a very strong wolf which made me the one of the best warriors in our pack. So we were just as dominant as William and his wolf.

I bit back the growl that wanted to come from my throat, “I'm not going with you. I'll take a taxi there.”

“Why? We're mates, aren't we?” He asked as a confused frown fell on his brows.

“You haven't marked me, so don't claim that I am yours.” I gritted out through clenched teeth.

I didn't give him a chance to reply as I started walking away. However, he caught up with me, “But I'll mark you, Amy.”

His words made me pause and turn around to face him, “Really? When?”

His eyes widened in surprise as he stuttered, “I-I-I’m not ready yet, besides, Kelly is back, so I have to spend time with her and-”

I scoffed, “Kelly, Kelly, Kelly! That's all you talk about these days. You must want to mark her and not me! Don't talk to me again!”

I raised my hand, waiting for a taxi to stop, but William grabbed my hand and pressed it against his chest.

I felt his heart beating loudly.

He stared into my eyes with his alluring dark eyes as he murmured, “Do you feel this? This is what I feel for you.”

I pulled my hand away as I glared at him.

“I'm sorry about yesterday, I will make it up to you tonight. I will mark you and you will become my chosen mate.” He added as he continued staring at me.

I shook my head, “I'm done with you, so just let me go.”

“Please let me take you to Kyle's party. He wants us to be together, so he won't be very happy once he finds out that we're fighting.” He pleaded with me.

When he saw that I didn't reply, he added, “Just give me a chance tonight. I will make it up to you.”

I shook my head, “I don't want that.”

“I will change your mind, you will see. Now, let's go back to the car.” He murmured.

I sighed, “Fine, but I'm going with you only for Kyle.”

“Good.” He muttered as we turned around and started towards the car.

After we reached his car, I climbed in as he held the door open for me and he climbed in after me.

It didn't take long before we reached the pack house. Kelly was already there, talking with Kyle at a table for ten. Her eyes widened like saucers as surprise showed in them, but then she narrowed her eyes at me in a glare before glancing at William with a smile on her face.

Kyle grinned when he spotted us, “Will, my man! You've finally arrived, and you're with Amy!”

William replied, “Yeah, man.”

“Happy birthday, Kyle!” I exclaimed as he grinned at me, making me feel better about my day.

“Thanks, Amy.” Kyle replied as he gestured towards the table and added, “Have a seat.”

“Sure.” I replied just as William sat on the chair next to Kelly and that left me to sit beside him since there were only two chairs were available.

There were more of William's friends at the table and I was sure that they didn't want me there. I have always tried impressing them, but not anymore. I was done with William and his snobbish friends.

“Will! I've missed you!” Kelly exclaimed as she held his hand and intertwined it with hers.

William grinned, “We were together all throughout yesterday and this morning. How can you miss me?”

She pouted and answered him, “I want to spend every second with you!”

I felt jealousy and anger fill me as I stared at the two of them. Was I really expecting him to change?

Kyle looked shocked at her words while William grinned as he rubbed his thumb against the back of her hand.

“Kelly, why don't you stop acting like his mate since his mate is here?” Kyle said in a stern voice as he stared at her in disbelief.

“Relax, Kyle. They aren't mates yet, and I'm just saying that as his best friend.” Kelly explained as she grinned wider.

I couldn't help, but speak up, “Well, he said that he's going to mark me tonight.”

“You did?” She asked William as her grin faltered.

“Yes, but I was just trying to make it up to her for yesterday.” He answered her as he frowned.

He sighed as he added, “Actually, Amy, I'm not ready yet.”

Kelly’s grin made its way back to her face, it was like she was trying to show that she had won something valuable. I didn't expect him to go back on his words. How did I even believe him in the first place?

Before I could reply, Kelly quickly said, “Oh, yesterday! It was your birthday, right? I'm so sorry, Amy. I stole your boyfriend on that day and prevented you from getting marked.”

So he told her our plans? I felt even more angry as a growl came from my throat.

Hearing this, Kelly added, “You must be angry. Forgive Will, it's all my fault. Besides, you can't let anger come between you and Will.” She added as she pouted again.

It wasn't anger that was coming between us, it was her. That was what I wanted to say, but I restrained myself.
