The Divorce that Changed Everything
Chapter 1
My wife Monica James had difficulty getting pregnant, and we tried IVF for three years before she got pregnant.
However, because her once beloved man's leg was broken, she had an induced labor.
She said, "We still have a chance to have a child in the future. I don't want to stimulate him now."
Monica had an abortion for her beloved man Xavier Lampson before, so after the induced labor, she couldn't get pregnant again.
I saw her clearly.
After I filed for divorce, Monica went crazy.
After three years of IVF, my wife Monica finally became pregnant.
Our whole family was looking forward to the baby, who would be our only child.
Monica was the one in our family who was most looking forward to the baby, but today she sent me a message, saying that she had induced labor for the six-month-old baby.
Seeing those cold words, I felt disappointed in my heart.
"The baby will bring bad luck to him."
I knew who she was talking about.
Monica pursued Xavier all the time in college.
I clenched my fists and suppressed my anger as I called her. "Are you serious? I've worked hard for three years, and I want to welcome a new life instead of killing him."
"Are you crazy? Our baby will bring bad luck for him. He got into a car accident and became disabled."
It was ridiculous. My wife killed our child because of that man.
"How could you be so cruel? Have you forgotten how much we've suffered for the baby?" My voice was trembling, but I still held on to the last glimmer of hope. "You're kidding, right? Where are you now? I'll come find you."
There was silence on the other end of the line.
I took a deep breath and closed my eyes.
I couldn't work anymore, so I immediately asked for leave and found Monica through the phone location.
"Monica, what's wrong with you?"
When I saw Xavier, I shouted angrily at Monica, "You just had an induced labor, but you came to find this bastard?"
Monica had just finished induced labor, but she came to take care of Xavier and wash his feet.
Xavier, who had his back to the door, suddenly set up from the bed and wailed as his wound was torn.
Monica stood up and splashed the foot-washing water on my face.
"Are you crazy? Why are you making a noise in the hospital?"
I couldn't dodge in time and got splashed all over.
As I stared at her flat belly, I felt both depressed and angry.
"Calm down, Carl. I've persuaded Monica. She... Ah!" Xavier said.
"Why didn't the car hit you to death?" I hit him.
The nurse came over, trying to separate Xavier and me. "What's wrong with you? Get out of here if you make trouble again!"
I stared at Monica with bloodshot eyes.
From beginning to end, she stood in front of Xavier to protect him.
"Carl! That's enough! I know it was wrong to hide the induced labor from you, but it is my decision and has nothing to do with Xavier."
Seeing that I was still angry, she was afraid that I would lose control and beat Xavier, so she quickly worked with the nurse to pull me away.
"We are still young, and we still have a chance. The doctor said that I have a good physical condition. If I can get pregnant once, I can get pregnant again. We will have many babies, okay?"
She kept chattering to buy time for Xavier.
She was afraid that I would beat her beloved man to death.
But she killed our only child with her own hands.
When I got home, my mother Jenny was in the kitchen cooking.
"You guys are back? Monica, try this soup. I made it for the whole afternoon..."
Seeing Monica's belly, Jenny smashed the soup in her hand.
"What's wrong?" She ran over with red eyes and supported Monica. "Monica, you..."
I couldn't bear to tell Jenny the truth.
