Chapter 8

"With your behavior, l might decide to chain you on the bed instead of giving you freedom," he spoke confidently. "Try it once and see. You will regret why you bought me," I hissed out. "Whatever. But whether you like it or not, you will be underneath me by the time I am done." Hearing his arrogance, my insides filled with extreme rage and hatred. This was what Jack also did to me before he betrayed me.

"There is a ceremony taking place tonight. I want you to prepare yourself, but as l mentioned before, you must always address me as sir and respect those who are superior to you. Once you arrive at the party, you're going to meet them, and don't forget you only speak when spoken to," he explained while staring at me.

"What am I, a circus animal?!" I shouted loudly, with anger evidently showing in my eyes. "I am not like you--beasts whatever it is, and I am not going to attend it!" I protested.

"We're thanking the Moon Goddess for bringing me an old whore to be my mate," he growled before leaving.

Tears streamed down my face upon hearing the insult.

"No, not again!" As soon as I heard the door being opened again, I angrily shouted. Damien informed me that a make-up artist would arrive quickly, so she did. She entered the room with a bag in her hands. "Hello, Alpha Damien has told me to help you dress up," she murmured as she closed the door behind her.

"I am different from all of you. Leave me alone!" I blurted out at her while crossing my arms against my chest. She grimaced at my response, and I felt slightly hurt. Maybe I shouldn't have yelled at her. She wasn't the one who trapped me here.

"Miss..." she tried to speak. "Tell that sick bastard to let me go. I am not going to dress up." I stopped her short in mid-sentence. "Miss Zoey, I understand that you are not in your best condition, but I think it would be better if you did as the Alpha said unless you want one of his goons to manhandle you." she continued, warning me of what would happen if I continue being a brat.

A shiver ran down my spine as soon as I heard her say that. Just the thought of those bastards touching me made me lose my appetite. I even recalled the time when one of the bastards gripped my throat. I thought I was going to die.

"Okay," I answered, then walked over to her making her look at me in surprise. She probably thought it would take more threats to coax me into listening. "What do you want me to do?" I asked her in the tiniest and most naive voice I could muster. "Just sit down, and I will do the rest," she humbly informed me.

After spending a good couple of minutes dressing up, I finally found myself walking with the guards I am unfamiliar with. We made our way downstairs into the Hall where the party was being held. It was organized all because of me. The inside of the castle was mesmerizing, and while gazing around, I couldn't help but be amazed at how grand the event was. As unbelievable as it was, these beasts were more prosperous than I had imagined.

Along the way, my eyes were wide as if I was trying to memorize every unique detail of the castle design. Everything was different from the typical buildings I used to see in the city. The walls were also an off-white color. On my right was a door leading to the dining room; on my left was a mysterious door. I thought of an urge to find out where it led.

Being lost in my observation, I noticed that a few people had approached us only when I heard a woman speaking. "What's wrong with her?" she whisper-yelled at her blonde-haired friend. "Oh, miss, close your mouth. A housefly might fall in your mouth." the blonde-haired woman giggled.

'Huh?' I felt all the blood drain from my face. That was really embarrassing, and the guards were laughing at me again. "She acts like she has never seen something like this." another one giggled, joining the gossiping squad. "She is the ugly surrogate." the blonde replied back. "Alpha Damien can't love someone like her. Oh, look! There he is." My ears instantly turned red when I heard their insults and comments.

When I followed their eyes, I felt like my heart was broken into pieces. I saw the Alpha; that asshole had his hands laced around a different lady. I had no idea who she was, but she was probably his lover. I shrugged and paid attention to somewhere else.

"I pity her. Alpha surely chose a slut over his mate." The gossip continued, but I didn't care. I knew nothing about what they were talking about. The only thing on my mind was that I was fated to Jack, but he betrayed me.

Silently standing in my heavy dress, I watched the beautiful couple greet the elders and influential people. Damien was dressed in a black tuxedo suit, and the lady he was walking with was dressed in a silky red dress with a slit up her thighs. She was honestly different from me.

I didn't know who did this, but he or she ensured I got a big, heavy dress, and I honestly felt out of place. Most of the ladies were dressed in hot smoking dresses, while mine was dull-colored.

Finally, after a few dull minutes, I saw the couple make their way in my direction. I felt like turning on my heels and running away, but Damien's gaze made me freeze in the dress. Any mistake made was precisely going to lead me into trouble.

"Harriet, meet Zoey Martinez." I felt blood furiously pump in my heart when he shamelessly introduced me. "Mhm," came the snotty reply of the bitch. "Zoey, this Harriet, one of the people you must respect," he said with a smirk. "So, she is the ugly breeder," she remarked, and the arrogance in her voice couldn't be any easier to decipher.

Many people called me ugly together with the guards, but when it came from her, it made me lose my temper.

I was done with being disrespected.
