The Alpha's Daughter In Exchange For Peace
Chapter 4
Luara withdrew her hand, sensing the man's reluctance. She took a step back, not wanting to make him feel uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry," she said softly.
The man gave her a nod, his expression softening a bit. "It's alright," he replied, his voice still gruff but not as hostile as before.
Luara took another step back, giving the man some space. She didn't want to push him further, but at the same time, she could not ignore his injuries.
"Can I help you?" she asked, her voice gentle.
The man hesitated for a moment, but then nodded. "I could use some help cleaning my wounds," he admitted, "but you shouldn't waste your time on me."
Luara shook her head. "There's nothing more important than helping someone in need," she said firmly, "Please, let me help you."
The man studied her for a moment, and then finally gave in. "Alright," he said, "but be careful."
Luara approached the man with cautious steps, her eyes fixed on the wound that caused him so much pain. She reached out to examine it, her fingers gently grazing his skin. As she did, she felt a strange energy passing between them, a sensation she could not quite explain.
The man looked up at her with surprise, his eyes meeting hers. For a brief moment, they both seemed to be lost in thought, the unspoken connection between them growing stronger.
"Your wound looks bad," Luara said, breaking the silence.
The man nodded, his expression softening as he allowed Luara to tend to his wound.
As she worked, Luara could not shake the feeling that there was something different about this stranger. It was as if they had met before, or as if they were meant to meet. She glanced up at him and saw that he too seemed to feel the same way.
Luara's hand slowly pulled away from the man's arm, and she felt a slight jolt of disappointment that their connection had been broken.
She turned her head to see a soldier in the distance, waving and calling out her name.
"Luara! Luara!" the soldier yelled, his voice echoing through the forest.
"Sorry," Luara said to the man, "I have to go."
She noticed a glimmer of understanding in his eyes, but also a hint of sadness that she had to leave so soon. "Take care of your wound," she added, hoping that her small gesture of aid would help him recover.
As she turned to leave, Luara felt curious about the man she had just met. She wondered where he came from and what he was doing in the middle of nowhere. However, she knew she had to focus on her duties in the WriteWar kingdom and could not dwell on her thoughts.
Luara glanced back at the man before hurrying towards the soldier who was waiting for her. She could not shake the feeling that her encounter with the wounded stranger was more than just a chance meeting, and that their paths might cross again in the future.
As she ran towards the soldier's voice, Luara regretted that she could not spend more time with the mysterious man.
As Luara reached the soldier, he looked at her with concern etched on his face. "Your Highness, are you hurt?" he asked, scanning her for any signs of injury.
Luara shook her head, "No, I'm fine. What's going on?"
The soldier looked at her curiously but didn't press the matter. "The king has summoned you, Your Highness. He needs to speak with you immediately."
Luara's heart sank at the thought of facing her father, the alpha of WriteWar. She took a deep breath and followed the soldier towards the palace.
As they walked, her thoughts kept returning to the man in the river. Luara could not explain it, but she felt a strange connection with him. It was as if they were meant to meet at that moment in time.
She focused on the task at hand and knew she needed to be strong for her father and her people. But deep down, she could not shake the feeling that she would see the mysterious man again.
