Ten Years Later, When I Saw My Ex-boyfriend Again
Chapter 4
Hollie called me, "Alana, it's time to eat!"
After breakfast, Hollie drove me to Joe's villa not far away.
At the same time, she reminded me to take my medicine. If I was not happy, I could go back to her side at any time.
In Joe's eyes, I was just a servant.
Unexpectedly, he was at home alone.
He wore silk pajamas and opened the door lazily. He sounded extremely mean.
"Alana, you've indeed changed. I thought you wouldn't come."
I smiled and wanted to smile gently before starting a conversation.
But the next moment...
He said, "Since you're here, don't be idle. Make a sumptuous breakfast every day. When it's ready, clean up the house. Don't slack off!"
He was indifferent. Besides, there was strong hatred in his eyes. He hated me to his bones uncontrollably.
Rather than saying that I had changed, it would be more accurate to say that he had changed. He was no longer who he had been ten years ago.
All my words were stuck in my throat. I couldn't say anything.
I put down my luggage and began to make breakfast for him.
I had learned how to cook because of the sudden changes in my family.
As far as I could remember, Joe's favorite breakfast was milk and eggs.
I carefully washed the eggs, boiled the hot water, and opened a packet of milk from the refrigerator.
Joe watched my every move strictly.
I wanted to talk to him.
Unfortunately, my stomach cancer started torturing me again.
The heart-wrenching pain forced me to slow down. I was powerless to deal with Joe's nagging.
"Originally, you should have a share of everything I have now."
"However, you chose to give up on me when I was the closest to success!"
"Yes. I should thank you for taking care of me in college, but it's also because of you that I understand the feeling of hating someone so much!"
"Alana, do you regret your decision back then?"
Joe was in urgent need of an answer from me, which made him a little anxious.
As a result, he couldn't see clearly how hard I had tried to bring breakfast to the table per his request.
I felt like I was about to faint.
But I cherished the rest of my life, especially the time I spent with Joe.
"Joe, here is your breakfast!"
Beads of sweat rolled down my forehead, rendering me nervous from avoiding his questions.
The breakfast that I had spent so much effort preparing was nothing in front of Joe. He had gone mad after failing to get an answer.
"I don't need the trash you prepare!"
He roared and waved his hand, smashing everything on the table into pieces.
"Ouch!" I cried out in surprise. Joe gripped my wrist tightly.
The powerful force made my vision darken.
"Answer me. If you're not here to repent and beg for my forgiveness, what's your purpose?"
"You're wearing this to show that you still have feelings for me!"
"Alana, say something. I can give you money so that you can at least live a better life!"
Joe tore at my neck desperately with his hand, and he tore off a red rope.
It was a necklace made of gold, which was not valuable. He gifted it to me at college.
I had always regarded what Joe had given me as a treasure.
"Give it back to me!"
I mustered up all my courage, trying to get it back.
"Why are you still wearing it? It's just an item for you to please me!"
Joe smashed the necklace to the ground indifferently, shattering it into several pieces.
"My necklace..."
I went crazy and wanted to collect the pieces.
Now, I had nothing left. The only thing I wanted to bring before my death was this necklace.
But Joe shattered such a slim hope.
The pain in my stomach was stronger in an instant.
Joe dragged me up forcefully.
"Alana, you look so stupid now. We're both adults now. Just say what you want. Why do you play such a trick?"
Joe gently strangled my neck, forcing me to look up.
The suffocating feeling made me almost faint. Tears streamed down my face.
When I was about to fall into a coma, I felt that Joe was going to crush me and do whatever he wanted.
