Chapter 2

"No, when I see Joe later, I must make it clear to him!"

I quickly let her lower her voice.

At the entrance of the venue, Joe walked over slowly with his fiancee.

The wind blew by. Tears well up in my eyes. I was so sad.

  I turned my face away.

  "Alana, come here!"

Joe paused and stopped somewhere ten steps away. He invited his fiancee to get in the car as elegantly as he could.

"I'm not leaving!" Joe's fiancee was full of anger.

"Don't worry. I won't have anything to do with her anymore. In my heart, any of your words matter the most!"

Hearing Joe's promise, his fiancee smiled happily.

I told Hollie not to say anything as I ran over with great joy.

"Joe, are you calling for me?"

I didn't care that he had a new girlfriend, nor did I care that he hated me.

I was going to die anyway.

At the end of my life, I wanted to say a few words to Joe and say goodbye to him.

  "You are in dire straits!"

Joe sized me up briefly, looking as indifferent as ever. He then said, "No wonder you came to me. Are you short of money?"

"Well, if you hadn't been so greedy for wealth, you wouldn't have become what you are today!"

"Alana, how much do you want from me?"

A series of questions from him overwhelmed me.

My thoughts drifted back to ten years ago when Joe finally got a chance to go abroad for further study.

  At the airport...

  ...

"Alana, where are you? I'm about to board the plane. Why didn't you send me off?"

  "Joe, let's break up."

"My dad doesn't want our relationship to continue..."

"You should have a better future, but I shouldn't be a part of it. You know. I have my future!"

I was a little incoherent, which Joe might not have been able to tell.

At this moment, I was holding my father's ashes in my arms. When I spoke, it would affect the wound on my face.

The pain was a little heart-wrenching.

"Alana, how can you say so at this time? Joe said he wouldn't board the flight without seeing you."

Joe's friend tried his best to persuade me.

"Since she has made it so clear, what else is there to say?"

"Alana, are you so cruel? If you are not a part of my future, there is no sense in me going abroad!"

"Go ahead. I don't want you to see me again. I wish you all the best!"

I couldn't bear to hang up the phone. The sound of something smashing on the ground came from the other end.

I knew that from that moment on, he hated me.

I didn't dare to look up at Joe into his eyes. The doctor said that I wouldn't make it past three months.

In the end, a miracle would never happen in the end. There was no need to break the current balance.

It was not a big deal to make him hate me.

  However...

In the end, I couldn't let go of something.

I wanted to stay with him for a few more seconds.

"What happened to the scar on your face?"

Finally, Joe noticed the change in me.

"No wonder you were in such a sorry state. You are disfigured. Otherwise, with your appearance from before, you wouldn't have been in such a state!"

Joe patted the back of his fiancee's hand. The two of them looked at each other and smiled.

"Perhaps they will be happier by making fun of me like this."

  "I'm sorry to disturb you!"

  I wanted to leave.

When I turned around, Joe suddenly grabbed my arm.

The memories surfaced in my mind.
