Chapter 4

What happened afterward felt like a dream.

I only remembered Harley holding my hand and taking me out of the bar and going back to the hotel where I stayed.

In the dim light of the bedroom, her gaze was still cold.

But her delicate body on top of me was like a blazing fire.

Sitting on me, she stretched her hands back and gently took off her black pencil skirt.

She used her fingers to trace over my collarbones and chest and then reach downwards...

"Eden, I'm not an easy woman."

She said.

"I just don't want to miss you again."

I had been in a high position over the years.

Countless women tried to throw themselves at me.

During the three years that Jade was in Australia, there were even more women who took the opportunity to try to sleep with me.

But I rejected them all.

I told them I'd wait for Jade to return.

But in the end, this so-called cross-country relationship which would last forever was nothing but a ridiculous farce.

Harley showed up out of the blue.

I felt that her body was burning.

It ignited my suppressed, sad feelings.

That night, Harley and I had sex again and again.

In the end, she collapsed on top of me.

Through the faint light of the sky, I thought I saw tears in the corners of her eyes.

I woke up.

It was already noon.

There were countless messages from Jade on my phone.

She called me.

This time, I answered.

"What is it? Have you signed?"

"Signed? Signed what? Eden, why didn't you voice chat with me last night?"

I laughed. "Are you serious?"

"Eden, don't push it too far. I forgot to put you on mute that night. I don't care what you thought you listened. Let me make it clear to you. I was watching an American TV series."

"Really? But he said your name."

Jade clearly was stunned.

She swallowed.

"Which ... part did you hear?"

I was surprised at how brazen she was. I didn't bother to respond to her.

Beside me, Harley, who was resting her head on my arm, was awakened by Jade's voice.

Harley heard our conversation.

With her beautiful eyes closed, she snorted softly.

Jade heard that and immediately became furious.

"Is there a woman beside you?"

"So what? You and I are done."

I said word by word.

Then I hung up the phone directly.

Jade angrily threw her phone on the ground.

Jade's bestie was silently searching on an Australian job app. She was startled and quickly picked up the phone.

After making sure the phone wasn't broken, she cautiously asked Jade.

"Well? Eden isn't really getting a divorce, is he?"

Seeing Jade's gloomy face, she quickly added.

"I'm sure he won't.

"He almost spent every day courting you in college. I've never seen a man love someone that much. At that time, I thought someone must be stupid enough to break up with Eden and be with someone else..."

She seemed to realize that she said something wrong and quickly shut up.

But Jade wasn't listening at all.

She was still thinking about the woman's voice that came from the other end of the line.

There was a dim, obscure light flickering in her eyes.
