Chapter 2

Aria’s eyes widened in shock. “Bloodthorn Pack? You can’t be serious. They’re—”

“Yes, they are,” Luna cut her off. “Your father has struck a deal for land. You are part of that deal.”

“No,” Aria said, shaking her head in disbelief. “You can’t do this.”

“It’s done,” Garrick said. His voice brooke no argument. “Prepare yourself for the journey.”

Aria felt a rush of anger and betrayal. “And what of Caleb? What am I supposed to tell him?”

Garrick’s gaze was steely. “Caleb has made his choice. There is nothing more to say.”

As the realization of her fate sank in, Aria’s voice trembled. “You’re throwing me away. You’re selling me off like a commodity.”

“There’s no time for sentimentalism,” Luna said with her voice devoid of warmth. “Prepare to leave.”

Aria’s world shattered as she turned to leave the room, her heart heavy with the weight of her parents’ betrayal. As she walked away, Caleb’s voice called after her, filled with regret.

“Aria, wait!”

She paused but did not turn. “Don’t bother, Caleb. Your words mean nothing now.”

With that, Aria stepped into the night. Her heart was aching with abandonment. The road to the Bloodthorn Pack was uncertain. But one thing was clear. She would not be defined by the betrayals she had endured.

As she walked through the cold, dark forest that led away from Shadowmoon, Aria’s thoughts were a tumult of fear and determination. Her steps were quick and purposeful, each one taking her further from the life she had known. But just as the distant lights of the Bloodthorn Pack began to pierce the darkness, a chilling howl echoed through the night, sending a shiver down her spine.

The howl was not the call of a lone wolf, but a chorus of voices, haunting and menacing. Aria’s pace quickened. Her heart was pounding with a mix of dread and adrenaline. She had heard rumors of the Bloodthorn Pack’s cruelty. But the sound that reached her ears now was a grim reminder of the horrors she might soon face.

As she drew nearer to the Bloodthorn Pack’s borders, the forest seemed to close in around her. The darkness was pressing in on all sides. The howls grew louder, more insistent. And Aria could feel the weight of eyes watching her from the shadows.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the darkness. Its eyes was glowing with an eerie light. Aria’s breath caught in her throat. And she instinctively took a step back. The figure was tall and imposing, cloaked in shadows that seemed to swirl around him.

“Welcome to Bloodthorn, Aria,” the figure’s voice was a low growl, filled with menace. “I’ve been expecting you.”

The chilling greeting sent a jolt of fear through Aria. She had hoped to reach the pack’s territory unnoticed. But now she was confronted by someone who seemed to have been waiting for her arrival. The figure stepped forward. And the moonlight revealed a face that was both familiar and terrifying.

It was Alpha Kael himself.

Aria’s mind raced, trying to process the gravity of her situation. The Bloodthorn Pack’s ruthless leader stood before her. His presence was exuding a palpable sense of power and danger. She braced herself, knowing that the real test was just beginning.

“Are you ready to face your new reality?” Kael’s voice was cold and unyielding. “Because I assure you, it will be nothing like what you’ve known.”

As Aria met his gaze, she knew that her journey into the heart of darkness had only just begun.
