Shocking: Roommates Hide Countless Secrets
Chapter 3
It seemed like a long time had passed, and I didn't know how many times the tea in my cup had been refilled, when Officer Foster returned in a hurry.
He looked serious and sat on the chair for a while before speaking. "We dug out a highly decomposed body of a boy by the white bridge behind the library.
"The time of death is about a month ago, and the specific cause of death cannot be determined.
"But through preliminary examination, no obvious fatal injuries were found."
As Caleb said this, he looked at me meaningfully and said, "Jovie, tell us everything you know."
I struggled for a moment and asked him in a complicated tone, "Did Chloe next door say anything?"
Caleb unexpectedly fell silent, and after a while, he spoke, "The strange thing is, what Chloe said is exactly the same as what you said."
I was instantly stunned, as if a bucket of cold water was poured over me from head to toe.
"But I think what you said is more credible!"
"Why?" I asked Caleb in surprise.
"Because there is fear in your eyes, as if you have truly witnessed something unimaginable."
I looked at Caleb in confusion. This reason seemed too hasty for the police.
However, Caleb didn't think so and changed the subject, saying, "That completely disfigured body is the boy who went missing a few days ago, named Enzo Jones. You should have seen him, right?"
Before he disappeared, I had met Enzo twice. He was a clean and pleasant-looking boy.
I nodded and said, "He was Chloe's first love."
"So, it was Chloe who killed Enzo that night and buried him on the spot, right?"
I nodded again, but Caleb suddenly burst into laughter and said, "How did you two manage to say exactly the same thing in every sentence?"
I helplessly lowered my head, knowing well in advance that Chloe would be the first to complain.
Fortunately, I was well prepared in advance!
After all, since the day I discovered her abnormality, I had been following her.
I took out my phone and handed it to Caleb. "Officer Foster, this is my evidence."
There was a video secretly recorded in my phone.
It was a full moon that day, and the moon was particularly round.
Although the image quality of the video was a bit blurry, you could tell at a glance that they were Chloe and Enzo.
They were sitting on the armchair by the white bridge, chatting happily.
But suddenly, the smile on Enzo's face froze instantly. His eyes widened, as if he was about to fall out in the next second.
He covered his chest in pain, watching the girl's body in front of him being torn apart.
In the video, Chloe was holding her own head, braiding her hair into a twisted braid.
I remembered Chloe said before that Enzo loved to watch her braid her hair into a twisted braid the most!
Caleb watched the video incredulously, his face suddenly turned pale with shock, and he could hardly speak.
I spoke first, "Officer Foster, if you think the video is fake, you can take it for authentication."
"Could it be that Enzo was scared to death?" Caleb's voice sounded a bit trembling.
"Enzo has congenital heart disease, and only Chloe knows about it."
Caleb gasped heavily, his eyes panicked as he kept scratching his head.
I stared at him motionlessly, feeling the shattered worldview that I had experienced before.
"Why did Chloe kill Enzo? And is she a human or a ghost?" After a moment of confusion, Caleb finally asked me.
Instead of directly answering Caleb's question, I told him a true and bizarre story.
I explained to Caleb in advance, "That this story is beyond reason. If you don't believe it, just treat it as a story."
