She Said Congrats, I Said Wedding's Off!

Yvette had been whining about that same bag on social media for weeks. It wasn’t just expensive since it could only be bought if you were a VIP customer at the Chanel flagship store. And now Noah thought he could just take mine with a few sweet words? How ridiculous!

I didn’t respond, simply letting the makeup artist continue. Yesterday, I called my new groom. He agreed without hesitation.

Honestly, though, we hadn’t seen each other in years. I had no idea what he was like now or what kind of man I was about to marry.

I finished my makeup and slipped into my wedding dress. When I walked out, I saw Noah sitting in the chair, asking the makeup artist to fix his face, too. I stopped her immediately.

"No need to do his makeup. He’s just a guest today."

Noah froze.

"What do you mean by that?"

However, I didn’t want to argue. Instead, I turned and walked away to greet the arriving guests. But he followed right behind me, pestering me nonstop.

"Evelyn, what are you talking about? What do you mean?!"

Before I could answer, the giant screen in the hall suddenly lit up. An obscene video started playing with my face. Gasps filled the room. Every single guest turned to stare at me. My parents were so shocked they almost fell over.

"Evelyn Arrows, what is this?!"

Then, Yvette strolled out from backstage, her face full of fake guilt.

"I’m so sorry, Evelyn. I meant to play a video of you and Noah kissing. Who knew I’d accidentally play … this."

Noah tightened his grip on my waist and leaned close, his voice low and threatening as he said, "If you don’t marry me today, I’ll spread this video everywhere."

At that moment, the doors burst open. Curious people from outside rushed in, pulling out their phones and shoving them in my face. Flashes went off nonstop as they snapped photos and recorded videos.

I was shaking with rage. These two monsters, Noah and Yvette, had planned this from the very beginning. My poor mother ended up fainting on the spot as she couldn’t handle what just happened. I tried to reach her, but the mob surrounded me.

"Evelyn, do your parents know what kind of slut you are?"

"She probably killed her mom for being a fucking slut!"

"How much for a night with you, huh? I’ll even film a video of us!"

The filthy faces and disgusting voices made me sick to my stomach. And while I was trapped, Noah left me there to run to Yvette and hug her like a hero protecting a damsel in distress. Just as the crowd was about to crush me, the video on the screen suddenly stopped.

The man closest to me was punched straight in the face. Another was sent flying back with a hit to the chest. The mob stepped back in fear.

While the mob was retreating, I finally saw a familiar figure.

Micah Herbert, my childhood friend, grabbed my wrist tightly as he said,"You promised to call me if you needed me to crash the wedding. Don’t go back on your word now!"
