"Raymond! You’ve gone too far!" Megan rushed forward, grabbing Brian’s shoulders and gently helping him up with a look of concern.

She softly wiped the tears from his face, her voice tender beyond belief. "Brian, don’t be like this—you didn’t do anything wrong."

When she turned to look at me, her gaze was as cold as ice. "Raymond, do you really have to humiliate someone like this?"

Taking the opportunity, Brian grabbed Megan’s sleeve, his voice trembling with tears. "Miss Wallace, maybe I should just resign… I don’t want Mr. Benneth to be unhappy, and I certainly don’t want to disrupt the company’s harmony."

His words sounded sincere, but the corner of his mouth curled up ever so slightly.

Sure enough, as soon as Megan heard this, she grew even more sympathetic. She clasped Brian’s hand tightly, her tone firm. "No way! You earned the director position on your own merits—why should you resign?"

"Raymond, look at what you’ve driven Brian to. Even now, he’s still thinking of you in everything he does. But you? Besides being aggressive and pushy, what else do you have?"

I watched this farce with cold eyes, feeling nothing but chill in my heart.

Brian’s acting was flawless—every tear perfectly timed, every word hitting Megan’s soft spot.

"Megan," I spoke slowly, my voice hoarse and chilling. "Can’t you see he’s just putting on a show?"

"A show?" Megan laughed scornfully, as if I’d told a joke. "Raymond, since when did you become so cruel? Brian is simple, kind, hardworking, and earnest—unlike you. You’re scheming and petty!"

At just the right moment, Brian lowered his head, his shoulders trembling slightly, as if bearing a great injustice.

He sobbed softly, "Miss Wallace, please don’t argue between me and Mr. Benneth anymore. It’s all my fault—I shouldn’t have accepted your gifts in the first place. I’m just a kid from a poor family; how could I possibly deserve cufflinks and a watch worth tens of thousands?"

Megan gently patted his back, her voice soft and comforting: "Don’t say that—you deserve the best."

She then looked up at me, her eyes filled with disappointment. "Raymond, I never thought you’d become like this. Brian works tirelessly day and night for the company, yet you nitpick over trivial matters and even repeatedly humiliate him!"

I clenched my fists so tightly my nails dug deep into my palms. "Think whatever you want."

I turned and walked toward the office door, my steps unwavering.

"Raymond!" Megan called out to me from behind. "You’re just leaving like this without even an apology?"

I stopped in my tracks, glanced back at her, then cast a look at Brian’s hypocritical face. "Megan, this is where we end."

Megan was stunned.

Brian’s eyes immediately reddened, his voice choked with emotion. "Mr. Benneth, please don’t be like this… Miss Wallace really cares about you…"

Megan grabbed his hand firmly, her tone resolute. "Brian, no more talking. Since he won’t appreciate it, there’s no need for us to hold him back."

After hearing that, I left without looking back.
