"Babe, I know it would have been wonderful, but it just isn't possible." She informed him of the situation, saying, "We have this deposition that has to be done, and this weekend is the only time we can do it."

"Well, I suppose that means I'll see you on Sunday."

"Yeah. I'll miss you. "I've sort of grown accustomed to having you and your little companion every night," she informed him with a chuckle.

"Yeah, really great. OK, must go. I look forward to seeing you on Sunday. Once again, thank you," she said.

After waiting for a few hours, Michael eventually got in his rusty old vehicle and headed to the arena. Because his living expenditures at Christine's were so much lower now that he was being paid on a regular basis again, he came to the conclusion that it was probably time to start shopping for a new vehicle.

Since Christine will be gone this weekend, he may be able to take care of it. This terrible old object, which was the final concrete memory of his broken marriage, was definitely not going to be anything he was going to miss.

On his way inside the stadium, he purchased his admittance ticket at the gate and then stopped at a concession booth to get some food.

Just before the start of the game, he made his way into the stands. As soon as he took a seat, the drill team began to stream into the stands, with Clare assuming the position of leader.

After looking up, she was pleased to see him and immediately smiled and waved happily.

Clare chuckled, and then she crouched down to whisper something in his ear.

She responded with a giggling "Yeah, but just don't become so upset that you leave, and forget I need a ride home!" When she finally managed to get away from him, she flashed him a broad grin before merrily returning to her position with the drill squad.

Clare waited for the drill team coach to give them their freedom after the game was over. She looked up and saw that Michael was still in the audience, so she jerked her head to the side to show that she was prepared. After giving her a nod, he moved down the rows of chairs to be closer to her.

Michael greeted her with a grin and said, "That was quite a game," as they made eye contact with one another.

"Yeah. However, for the most part this is uncharted area for me. I don't believe I've ever really seen someone win before," she laughed.

Clare had watched as the whole squad, with the exception of Porter, exploded in joy after the team had scored the game-winning touchdown. In a childish fit of rage, he flung his helmet on the ground, and his father, who was watching from the seats, went completely insane, yelling profanities at the coach as the squad erupted in jubilation. She couldn't help but laugh at their lack of maturity and the attention they paid to themselves.

That instant opened her eyes to all that she had been neglecting.

The question he posed to her was, "So, are you free to go?"

The response she gave was "Yeah."

"Cool. I'm parked rather close to this. He approached her and said, "May I carry your bag?"
