Chapter 1

Rogues broke into the Pack House, holding a silver knife to my throat while another captive held Brooke, the so-called "Seer."

The Rogue leader gave my Alpha, Harrison, three seconds to choose who lived.

Without hesitation, he commanded, "Save Brooke."

I was gutted with a silver blade and left to bleed out on the carpet while he cradled her.

Miraculously, I survived, only to find he had already replaced me. He claimed Brooke was pregnant with his heir—something he said I, a "defective" Omega who couldn't shift, could never give him.

To protect his reputation and clear the way for his new Luna, he didn't just exile me. He drugged me with Wolfsbane and threw me onto a fishing trawler rigged with explosives.

As the timer ticked down in the dark cargo hold, I finally understood the depth of his cruelty.

Years ago, when I miscarried our actual child alone on the bathroom floor, begging for him through the mind-link, he hadn't just ignored me—he had blocked me to pick up his mistress.

The boat exploded, turning the ocean into fire. Harrison stood on the cliff, watching me burn, satisfied that his problem was gone.

But he forgot that my bloodline doesn't perish in fire.

Six months later, I walked back into the Council Hall.

I wasn't the weak Omega anymore. I was the legendary White Wolf.

And on my arm was the Lycan King—the one man Harrison feared most.

"Hello, Harrison," I smiled.

"I believe you're sitting in my seat."

Chapter 1

Ava POV:

The alarms shattered the night silence of the Silver Lake Pack. Usually, that meant drills. The copper tang of blood in the air said otherwise.

Rogues.

"Move! To the safe house!" Harrison roared.

My mate. My Alpha. Or at least, the man who let me share his bed.

I scrambled out of the sheets, grabbing a dagger from the nightstand. Being an Omega-or treated like one because my wolf was dormant-didn't mean I was helpless. I sprinted into the hallway, the chaotic noise of growls and tearing flesh echoing from the lower floors.

"Harrison!" I screamed, spotting him at the end of the corridor.

He was in human form, broad shoulders tense, eyes glowing the amber of his wolf. Beside him, clinging to his bicep like a frightened child, was Brooke.

Brooke Shelton. The "Guest Seer." The woman the Council sent to help us. The woman who smelled like cloying vanilla and rotted flowers.

"Ava, get back!" Harrison commanded.

The window beside them exploded inward. Three massive, mangy wolves burst in. Rogues. Their fur was matted with mud and dried blood, eyes wild with madness.

One lunged for me. I dodged, slashing with my dagger, but a second one slammed into my ribs. The impact threw me against the wall. I felt bone crack.

"Well, well," a raspy voice came from the largest Rogue, who shifted back into human form. He held a curved silver knife to my throat before I could recover. "The Alpha's little bitch."

Another Rogue grabbed Brooke, hauling her up by her hair. She shrieked, a sound that grated on my nerves like a drill.

Harrison froze. The power of the Alpha radiated off him, heavy and suffocating, but he didn't attack.

"Choose, Alpha," the Rogue leader sneered, pressing the silver blade into my skin. It burned. Pure, agonizing fire. "One lives. One dies. You have three seconds."

I looked at Harrison. My heart hammered against my ribs. We hadn't completed the Mating Ceremony, he hadn't marked me, but the bond was there. I felt it. I was his.

"Harrison..." I whispered.

He didn't look at me. His amber eyes were locked on Brooke, who was sobbing theatrically.

"One," the Rogue counted.

"Save Brooke," Harrison said.

The words were low, devoid of hesitation. Cold calculation.

"Harrison?" My voice broke.

"She is the Seer," Harrison growled, justified by his own twisted logic. "The Pack needs her vision. Save Brooke!"

He used his Alpha Voice. The command slammed into his warriors, forcing them to surge toward Brooke's captor.

The Rogue holding me laughed. It was a dry, cruel sound. "Wrong choice, Alpha."

He didn't hesitate. He drove the silver knife deep into my abdomen.

The pain was white-hot, blinding. It wasn't just a cut; the silver poison instantly began to sizzle in my blood, fighting my body's natural healing ability.

I collapsed to the floor.

Through the haze of agony, I watched Harrison catch Brooke in his arms. He didn't even turn his head as I bled out on the carpet.

I woke up to the beep of machines and the sterile smell of the Pack Hospital.

My stomach felt like it was on fire. The silver poison. It took weeks to heal from silver wounds, especially for a wolf who couldn't shift.

"You're awake."

It wasn't Harrison. It was Mr. Henderson, the Pack's Beta and lawyer. He stood at the foot of my bed, holding a clipboard.

"Where is he?" I croaked.

"The Alpha is... occupied with Ms. Shelton's recovery. She suffered severe shock," Henderson said, adjusting his glasses.

Shock. She had a bruise on her arm. I had a hole in my stomach.

"I want to leave," I whispered. "I want to reject him. I want to leave the Pack."

Henderson sighed, a sound of pity that made me want to scream. "Ava, you can't just 'leave.' You are a Pack Member."

"I am the Alpha's Mate!" I tried to sit up, but the pain forced me back down.

"Actually," Henderson said, pulling a document from his clipboard. "Technically, you are not. Alpha Harrison never filed the Mating Registration with the Council. In the eyes of the law, you are just an Omega member of the Silver Lake Pack. You have no Luna rights."

The world tilted.

Six years. I had been by his side for six years. I managed the accounts, I organized the events, I warmed his bed. And he hadn't even registered me?

"He said... he said he was waiting for the right time," I murmured.

"He was waiting for a Mate who could strengthen the Pack's standing," Henderson said bluntly. "You cannot shift, Ava. You know the laws."

He left me alone with the beeping machine.

I closed my eyes, and the memory hit me. The night I lost the baby. Three years ago. I had been poisoned with Wolfsbane. I had mind-linked Harrison, begging for help.

I'm busy, Ava. Brooke needs a ride from the airport. That was his reply.

I lost our child alone on the bathroom floor while he played chauffeur to the "Seer."

A sharp static noise buzzed in my head. It wasn't the Pack link. It was a frequency I hadn't used in years. An encrypted channel.

Ava? Can you hear me?

My brother. Dustin.

Dustin? I projected the thought, my mental voice weak.

Thank the Goddess. I hacked into the hospital records. I see your vitals. Ava, listen to me. The Rogue attack three years ago? The one that killed Mom? I found the encrypted logs. Brooke sent them the patrol routes.

My blood ran cold. The monitor beside me spiked.

What?

She's a spy, Ava. And Harrison... he's too blind or too power-hungry to see it. You need to get out.

The door opened. Harrison walked in.

He looked perfect. Not a scratch on him. He held a bouquet of generic lilies-the kind you buy at a gas station.

"Dustin, I have to go," I cut the link.

Harrison placed the flowers on the table. "You're awake. Good. The doctor said the silver missed your vital organs."

"You chose her," I said. My voice was flat.

Harrison sighed, sitting in the chair as if he were the one exhausted. "Ava, don't start. Brooke is a Level 5 Seer. Her visions are vital for the Pack's survival. It was a tactical decision."

"I am your Mate."

"You are my companion," he corrected. "But the Pack comes first. Always."

He reached out to touch my hand. I pulled it away.

"Don't," I snapped.

His eyes narrowed. "I saved the Pack's future today. You should be proud of my leadership, not sulking like a child."

"Get out," I said.

"This is my hospital, Ava. My Pack." He stood up, towering over me. "Rest. We have the Alpha Summit next week. I need you to organize the catering."

He turned and walked out.

I stared at the closed door. The bond in my chest, that golden thread that tied me to him, felt rotted.

He didn't save the future. He saved a traitor.

I closed my eyes and focused on the deep, locked part of my soul. The place my father had sealed before he died. The place where the White Wolf slept.

Wake up, I whispered to the darkness inside me. It's time to burn it all down.
