Say Goodbye To My Beloved Husband
Chapter 4
"Are the results of the DNA test out yet?"
Zane repeatedly dissected my body, trying hard to find any clues about the victim.
"No, we don't have anyone in our DNA database who can match up."
"Have there been any missing persons reports recently?"
"No. I found it strange. The deceased is a pregnant woman, but her husband or other family doesn't even bother to look for her."
As Zane was chatting with Cody, Joe pushed the door open.
"We've expanded the search area again, but there is no news of her head and feet. Also, we're searching closely for the child you mentioned.
"Zane, don't you have any doubts? To stop us from knowing the identity of the victim, the murderer hides the head, but why are there no feet?
"Perhaps because we can identify the deceased by the feet, the murderer intentionally hid them to confuse us."
Zane nodded in agreement. "Very likely."
The assistant added cautiously, "Mr. Smith, Mr. Lawson, do you think the murderer has some kind of quirk? Since he's so cruel to a pregnant woman, can it be that he hates women? There was a similar case in our hometown before. A man suspected that the baby in his wife's belly was a bastard, so he insisted on taking the baby out for a DNA test.
"After he escaped, he continued to commit crimes, killing women like prostitutes."
At this point, Zane's face darkened even more, as if he had suffered some kind of humiliation.
Joe waved his hand and asked Cody to leave first.
"Zane, have you contacted Chloe before?"
"If you're free, why not ask her to sign the divorce agreement and send it over quickly? By then, everyone won't feel embarrassed."
Joe seemed to have suddenly thought of something and suggested, "Since the deceased was a pregnant woman, she should have been to a hospital. Let's go and check it out."
"If you had stopped thinking of Chloe, you would have already found out the truth," Zane scoffed.
Seeing that he didn't trust me at all, I floated in the air, smiling bitterly.
With so many obvious clues, Zane never suspected me.
It seemed like I had disgusted him so much.
All of a sudden, Zane took out his phone and made a call.
His voice was so gentle that I knew who he was calling immediately.
"Why aren't you asleep yet?"
"Darling, I just had a nightmare. I was so scared that I didn't dare to close my eyes."
Hearing his words, Zane glanced at the clock on the wall.
It was eleven o'clock in the evening.
He pinched his brows and took off his white coat. "It's all my fault. Don't worry. I'll go home right now. Turn on the light and wait for me."
Zane used to be a workaholic. Every time he encountered a difficult case, he would eat and live at his office.
At that moment, he just told me that he wanted justice for the deceased. Otherwise, it would make him feel guilty.
I didn't understand why he could stop working and go back now.
Or the current corpse lying on the dissection bed was also dirty in his heart.
It seemed like researching my body wasn't worth the effort.
A dirty person like me really couldn't be compared with his true love.
