This time, I saw it clearly. Pamela pressed a switch on the bottle before pouring the wine. Even though I had agreed to give up the company, they still planned to drug and ruin me.

“Why did you ask Andrew to come here?”

I forced a smile as I said, “I just miss him. Don’t you like your future son-in-law?”

My mother laughed awkwardly, telling me, “You agreed to spend time with us. Don’t call Andrew now.”

Their fear of my contacting anyone proved the wine was poisoned. Luckily, I didn’t drink it. I hadn’t alerted them fully either, since I didn’t finish the message.

Pamela leaned over and read the screen. She smiled.

“Your fiancé’s coming? Great. More people, more fun.”

Her confidence made me nervous. Did she think even Andrew would side with her?

No. That wasn’t possible. We’d been in love for years.

I stayed calm and put the phone away. “It’s getting late. Let’s go see the sunset.”

As I walked out of the tent, I stumbled and bumped into a thin boy collecting sheep dung.

I helped him up and said gently, “I brought snacks. Want to come with me to get them?”

I led him back to the caravan.

My parents frowned.

“Did she figure something out?”

Pamela shrugged.

“That kid only speaks the local dialect. She can say whatever she wants. It’s useless.”

But they didn’t know I had learned the local language after being trapped here for three years in my past life. If anything went wrong, the boy could help me. I wouldn’t rely only on Andrew this time.

After I sent the boy away, I pretended to pass out from the drug.

My parents were thrilled.

“Pamela, call the old man. Let’s finish this tonight.”

“That girl still thinks we care about her. She has no idea she’s about to rot here.”

Their words hit me harder than any slap.

Just this morning, they looked at me with kind eyes and told me how happy they were that I joined them on this trip.
