Chapter 1

The wife of the head of my subsidiary thought I was her husband's mistress.

So, she gathered her best friends of rich ladies and stormed into my villa, smashing everything.

"If it weren't for my husband, could you afford to live in this house?"

"If it weren't for my husband, could you afford to wear this watch?"

"If it weren't for my husband, could you stand here and talk to me?"

I laughed out loud because of anger.

I took out my phone and sent a message to her husband, including my home address.

"Now, bring your bank card and come over. Your wife has smashed antiques worth billions of dollars. I have already reported it to the police."

***

I just moved back to my old house, and when I returned after work, I saw two bodyguards holding a long banner at the entrance of the apartment complex.

On it, there were big letters.

"Congratulations to my husband's mistress for moving to a new home!"

As I walked inside, I smacked my tongue.

I thought the scene at the door was shocking enough, but when I entered the complex, I found that there were even more impressive scenes.

The people and cars in the complex are separated, and all the residents" cars are in the underground garage.

But today, after I walked for only five hundred meters, I saw luxury cars worth millions of dollars.

Many of them belonged to the company's partners.

The residents complained to the property management company. When I opened my phone to take pictures, I found that there were a lot of messages in the group chat.

The property management company tried to explain, but the problem was not solved. At this moment, explanations are useless.

Before the parking problem could be solved, a large group of reporters rushed to the entrance.

The security guards on duty were overwhelmed.

I quickly dodged behind the greenery as I saw a group of people carrying cameras about to collide with me.

The noisy discussions were deafening.

"Are you here to catch the adulterer too?"

"Are you here for the same reason? Are we talking about the same person?"

"The building in District D? What a coincidence, we are going there, too!"

A group of people walked towards the residential area, and only then did I nervously return to the sidewalk, patting my chest.

How could they be after a guy in my residential area?

With so many people, it must be very noisy.

How am I supposed to work tonight?

I walked to the villa area and saw a group of wealthy ladies surrounded by reporters who held their microphones high.

As I got closer, the crying inside became clearer.

"If I don't expose the evil deeds of the vixen, I won't be able to live! My husband doesn't come home every day, and he keeps buying gifts for this bitch. He even used the money I saved for our child's education!"

"I can tolerate being bullied, but now, even my son has to make way for her. If I don't ruin her reputation today, I'll eat my hat!"

With these words, the crowd became excited.

The betrayed wife stood on a stone pedestal and called for women to unite.

When I saw her face, I realized that she was actually an acquaintance.

It was Makena Doyle, the wife of Zayden Benitez, the head of my subsidiary.

During many meetings, she would call to check on Zayden. I was forced to see her photo on Zayden's phone wallpaper.

Her words silenced several female residents who came to argue about the parking issues.

The group of people was filled with indignation, wishing they could get rid of that vixen as soon as possible.

After watching the show, I turned back to my home.

After washing up, I applied a face mask and opened my computer to work, but the noise outside was getting louder and louder.

There was faint shouting from security guards, who were trying to maintain order, but it was in vain.

Just as I put on my headphones, there was a loud knock on the door.

It took me only ten seconds to walk from the sofa, but the person outside was impatiently shouting, "Open the door! Takeout!"

I was puzzled. Didn't the complex have a cabinet to store the takeout?

As soon as the door was opened a crack, and before I could ask, I was sent flying by the force of the door opening.

My head grazed the edge of the sofa.

Behind Makena, dozens of reporters rushed into my living room, carrying cameras on their shoulders.

The strong light made it almost impossible for me to open my eyes.

"What are you doing?"

Before I could finish my sentence, a shoe sole hit my face.

The thin heel of the high-heels rubbed against my cheek, leaving a trail of blood and tiny droplets.

Makena's sharp voice rang out. "I saw you seducing my husband! You fox spirit, watch me kill you today!"

I was stunned by the sudden turn of events for a few seconds before I came back to my senses.

A journalist next to me weakly asked, "Why didn't we see any man? Did we make a mistake?"

I was about to agree with her, but Makena excitedly argued.

"I checked my husband's delivery records, and it's this house! Antique vases are everywhere here. No young woman will have so many of them at home! They were all bought by my husband!"

"It must be her! Look at her, she just applied a face mask. She can't be a good person!"

"If I don't tear your face apart, you"'ll think I"'m easy to mess with! How dare you instigate my husband not to come home! I'll kill you!"
