Chapter 2

It was the evening rush hour, and many people were there at the entrance. Some people who were unaware of the situation cheered excitedly.

Without waiting for my sister to answer him, Edwin stuffed the wilted flowers into my sister's arms, held her face, and tried to kiss her.

But my sister pushed him away.

She was furious and scolded him, "I've already told you that I don't like you. How could you not understand what I'm saying?"

The flowers were also thrown at him. Edwin was mad for a moment, but for some reason, he endured it and began to coax her in a low voice.

"You don't like me. Why did you put on such beautiful makeup, wear such beautiful clothes, and ask me to pick you up from get off work? And I bought you all those snacks!"

He went over and took my sister's hand, persuading her, "Paige, be good. I will treat you well. Marry me!"

My sister couldn't win him in the argument and thought he was being shameless.

She put on makeup and dressed up to please herself. Edwin was there with her on her way to and from work because he was stalking her!

But she couldn't win the argument, so she broke free from his hand and cried, telling him to go away.

As a result, someone filmed my sister saying that and posted it online.

People misunderstood the situation and thought my sister was a gold digger who fell in love with someone else for money.

In addition, people with bad intentions also instigated and posted a few ambiguous photos, indicating that Edwin was a great man who delivered meals to Paige, dropped her off at work, and picked her up after work. So, my sister became the shameless one.

Many people left messages online scolding her. Even her boss was annoyed and asked her tactfully, "Why don't you get back with your boyfriend?"

My sister disagreed, so she got fired.

After losing her job, that bastard man didn't let my sister go. He still followed her to our neighborhood.

He couldn't get into our house, so he just waited downstairs.

While my sister was taking out the trash, Edwin took out a speaker and shouted, "Paige Finn, I love you! Please marry me!"

My sister almost threw the garbage at him and yelled at him, "I will never marry you even if I die!"

Edwin didn't leave. He hung a banner in our community and started telling people about him and my sister whenever he saw someone.

"Well, I made my girlfriend mad, so I came here to comfort her. You wanna know who she is? It's Paige Finn. Do you know her? She lives in this building, and she hates me for not being rich. So she wants to be with someone else, but I can forgive her!"

Then, not only my sister but also my parents were criticized.

"They looked so decent. How could they raise such a materialistic daughter?"

My parents went to my cousin's wife to demand an explanation. My cousin's wife asked innocently, "We'll be closer if they get married. Besides, it's normal for young couples to fight. As their family, you shouldn't interfere too much."

She also shared the matter in the family group chat, implying that my parents had failed to educate my sister.

My relatives followed echoed her and advised my parents, "Girls will get married sooner or later. Your elder daughter, Sarah, is already 26 and still not married. Now that Paige finally has a man, why don't you let her get married soon? Are you gonna make her a leftover lady, too?"

My father was so angry that his blood pressure went high, and my mother wept uncontrollably.

After seeing the messages, my sister went into her room silently.

Edwin harassed her with many phone calls, which was just overbearing. So, she took sleeping pills and committed suicide.

Fortunately, my mother noticed my sister's weirdness. She went to comfort her but only to find her unconscious. Then, they rushed her to the hospital.

Although my sister was rescued, she had no desire to live.

When I got home, my sister was there, lifeless.

I had just finished a course of treatment, and the doctor said that my condition had been temporarily stabilized. I returned home in a good mood, only to see my family shrouded in misery.

My sister, who was always quiet and shy, was so thin, and her eyes were red and swollen.

My parents seemed to have aged twenty or thirty years overnight, and their hair had turned much greyer.

They tried to hide it from me at first, but I asked them directly, "I've seen the videos online. Are you still gonna hide it from me?"

When I was discharged from the hospital, I retrieved my phone and personal belongings. So, I saw the proposal video online.

There was also abuse against my sister.

I knew what kind of person my sister was, and I knew my family well.

Seeing that they couldn't hide it from me, my parents told me hesitantly. Recalling what had happened made my sister cry again.

I wiped my sister's face, grabbed my dad's phone, and sent a message in the group chat.

"Okay. You're all bullying us. Let's see what happens next."

"That bastard is deliberately making trouble. I'll just be more shameless than him!" I thought.
