Chapter 3

Half a year ago, this poor but warm home was full of laughter, and I was still a loving family with my mom, dad, and brother's family crammed into this shabby three-bedroom apartment.

But now, in order to beg Liam a serious illness, all my family members have all lost their lives, all the valuable things in the family also are sold for Liam to put up the operation fee.

I didn't realize that it wasn't until after my entire family was dead that Liam showed his cards to me, and he was actually the son of the Carter family, one of the three major families in Oceanview City.

What a joke. Does he really think I'm with him because I'm greedy for the Carter family's billions?

If I had known that he was the son of the Carter family, no matter what, I, a lousy toad, wouldn't have coveted his piece of swan meat!

Three years ago, I was coming home from a night shift at the factory when I came across a drunken young man lying in the road by the side of the road.

I risked my life to snatch him out from under the wheels in spite of a speeding car, but I was crushed and broke both my legs myself.

The young man was Liam, who came to his senses on the spot in fear and ran to the nearest hospital with me in his arms.

During the six months of recovery, he stayed with me every step of the way, and worked part-time on the Internet all night long to earn money for my surgery.

I always thought he was from a poor family like me, and naturally I was impressed by his sincerity and went all the way with him.

We work together, together with three years, just when I thought we had gone through three years of trials and tribulations can finally come to a successful conclusion, all of this has become a bubble.

I realized that when he was lying drunk on the road it was just a bet with his brothers at a drinking game.

Betting on whether any fool who doesn't want to die will go up and save him. If any fool does save him, the man will be his friend and the woman will be his girlfriend.

And I, for one, am the fool who doesn't want to die.

The fact that I was crushed and broke my leg was also intentionally designed by his brother to make this beauty-saving-hero scene more meaningful.

I hate myself for being so stupid as to think I've met a true love worth committing my life to, even after being treated like a monkey.

I hate Liam and those brothers of his even more, playing with the dignity feelings and lives of our poor people.

I'd rather jump off the roof of a building to be with my family if it wasn't for the vengeance that sustains my beliefs.

But right now, I can't die yet, I'm going to fight with all my might to make Liam, this scum, get what's coming to him!

I was about to go out, but I didn't expect to be directly blocked by Vivian with a few sisters.

"Yo, what are you going to do, you're going to work in a factory to buy graves for your dead family members? Hahahahahaha!”

Vivian's words immediately poked my lung tube, my parents and brother died one after another in six months, and the cost of a grave is two hundred thousand dollars.

The money I had saved from years of working was only enough to put a down payment on Mom and Dad's graves first, and now I still owe a down payment on my brother's grave.

Seeing that I was choking on my words, several of Vivian's sisters were laughing their asses off.

"You don't have to pee to see what kind of virtue you have, a smelly working girl also dares to think of marrying into a rich family to be the young granny of the Carter family?”

"That's right, do you think Mr. Carter will fall in love with you? He's just looking at you as a young and pretty girl and playing with you for a while!”

"Now that his real fiancée is back, how can you still have the face to rely on Liam? Being a mistress is so good!”

I was shaking with anger, but my eyes were calm.

"Miss Scott came back just in time, otherwise I'm really afraid that no one will pick up the rags I don't want!"

Vivian snorted and pestled a bank card with two fingers in front of me.
