Returning to the Day of My Boyfriend's Accident
Chapter 1
Before the audition for the new drama, my boyfriend came to deliver the script but got into a car accident. To take him to the hospital, I gave up my chance to audition and missed out on the role I desired. Later, I discovered that the other actress auditioning with me was my boyfriend's childhood friend. The so-called car accident was a ruse he orchestrated to hinder me. Upon accidentally uncovering the truth, my boyfriend, fearing I would ruin his beloved's career, locked me in the car, letting me bleed to death. When I opened my eyes again, I found myself back on the day of his accident.

"Victoria, you left the script for your audition at home. Send me your location, and I'll bring it to you!" With two hours left before the audition, my boyfriend Daniel called, saying he would bring me the script. In my previous life, I foolishly thought he cared about me, which is why he pushed aside work to deliver the script. But later, I lost the chance to be the female lead, and while I was a stand-in on set, I overheard that he had purposely switched the scripts to give his childhood friend Rita a better opportunity. At this moment, Daniel's anxious voice was still on the phone. I collected my thoughts and said calmly, "No need, you can go ahead with your work. I'll figure something out." Despite my protests, he insisted, "Victoria, wait for me. I'll be there on time, and you won't miss this chance." Then he hung up. Remembering my previous life, I spent months privately studying similar roles performed by industry veterans to secure this part. I had rehearsed this script segment countless times in front of a mirror. Therefore, even without the script, I was confident I could get the role. Just before entering the audition venue, I received the same call as in my previous life. "Hello, Ms. Victoria? Your boyfriend Daniel had a car accident at 1 Rainbow Road. Please come quickly." This time, I responded with a hint of sarcasm in my voice, "Is he dead?" The person on the other end was stunned by my coldness, "What?" I continued coldly, "I asked if he's dead. Call me when he is!" Then I put my phone on airplane mode and headed into the audition.

As I entered, Rita had just finished her audition and went out. She spoke eagerly, still with a bit of surprise in her voice, "Victoria? Why are you still here?" I chuckled, "I'm here for the audition too. Where else should I be?" Rita frowned and asked again before I stepped inside, "I heard Daniel had a car accident. Aren't you going to see him?" I turned back and scoffed, "I'm his girlfriend, right? How come you know more about what's going on with him than I do?" She heard the sarcasm in my voice and explained, "Daniel and I are neighbors, so I naturally know more about him than you. I heard he got into the accident because of you. He's in the hospital now, and you don't care about his life or death and still want to audition. It seems like you don't love him much." Before I could respond, the staff inside urged me to come in. I walked past Rita and entered the room. Because of my extensive preparation and Rita's lack of acting talent, the audition went smoother than I expected. After the audition, I noticed the approving glances from the directors.

After leaving the set, I turned on my phone, which showed dozens of missed calls. But I didn't return any of them. Instead, I went directly to the hospital where Daniel was, based on my memory from my past life. Upon seeing me, Daniel angrily threw the apple that was peeled at me. Rita chided softly, "Daniel, I just finished peeling that." Daniel turned to gently stroke her forehead as a gesture of comfort. She shot me a disdainful glance before turning back to Daniel, saying, "Daniel, you neglected a multimillion-dollar business deal to deliver the script, but apparently, in her heart, her work is more important than you." Hearing this, Daniel grew even angrier and shouted, "Victoria, I got injured because of you, and you didn't come to see me immediately and even ignored my calls, did you?" Seeing me silent, he thought I was feeling guilty. He continued sternly, "I heard you did well in the audition today. But Rita also wants that role. Give it to her." I found it laughable and asked, "Why should I?" This enraged Daniel even more. "Why? I got into a car accident because of you. If it weren't for Rita taking care of me, I might have died on the operating table. To thank her, call the director now and say you have other commitments and can't join the cast. I'll find another role for you later as compensation." Compensation? Daniel's words made me laugh. I met him the year I entered the entertainment industry. Back then, I was a rookie, and at a wrap party, a producer tried to force me to drink. Daniel helped me out. After that, we exchanged contact information and gradually started seeing each other more. Daniel's family was in the entertainment business. After we got together, my manager often advised me, ''As long as you speak up and let him leak some resources from his hands for you, you don't have to worry about your work for the whole year.'' However, I was not with him for resources and Daniel never offered to help voluntarily. I assumed he disliked people who depended on others. So, I worked my way up through minor roles based on my own talent and effort. But Rita, a pop idol without acting talent, kept getting leading roles through Daniel's connections. When I questioned him, Daniel would say, "Rita has always been weak. Unlike you, she can't get everything she wants on her own." Later, even the role I fought hard to audition for, which fans believed I was destined for, was almost given to Rita. Thinking of this, I felt a sharp pain in my heart. Daniel was still rambling on, "Because of you, I had my first surgery, and my leg is in a cast. You'd better apologize to Rita and give her the role—" Unable to contain my anger, I slapped the medical report I got from the doctor on his cast.
4
Holding back my fury, my voice still rose uncontrollably, "A minor scrape on your right calf requires surgery. Did the doctor put a band-aid on you in the operating room, or does your wound need a cast to prevent me from seeing it's already healed? Also, I had already packed the script for the audition into my bag before leaving this morning. Why was my audition script swapped with other documents? Did you have an accident because of me, or have you been plotting against me all along?" After speaking, I ignored his stunned expression and left the hospital without looking back. In my three years with Daniel, he knew I loved him more than myself and trusted him completely. So he didn't even bother to fake the medical report. In my past life, I believed his lies and gave up my work to take care of him, which caused my budding popularity to plummet. In the end, I could only make cameo appearances on various TV shows like I did when I first debuted. The day I died, I was on Rita's set filming. Because I am a guest performer, my scenes should have wrapped up, But Rita's stunt double suffered a waist injury while hanging Weiya and was taken to the hospital, delaying the project. When the director was at a loss, Rita pointed at me and said, "I see her figure is similar to mine. Why don't you let her be my stunt double?" Although the director knew that I was not a stunt double actor, he was struggling with the filming schedule and finally came to negotiate with me. The director promised me a supporting role in his next project if I agreed to be Rita's stunt double for three days. At that time, I was no longer valued by the company. Upon hearing that resources could be exchanged for the third female lead, I quickly gratefully hung up Weiya, afraid that the director would back down. However, the stunt work was much harder than I imagined. After being hoisted on a wall for hours under the sun, I had no strength left when I was finally lowered. When the drama troupe helped me to the pantry, I overheard a familiar conversation. "What? Are you feeling bad seeing your girlfriend up there all morning? I'm just helping her get a chance. Otherwise, she wouldn't even qualify as my stunt double with her current popularity!" Then I heard Daniel's cold voice, "Why should I feel bad? It's her fault for being so incompetent." "She originally had a chance to be the female lead. Who asked her to give up the audition for you? Daniel, thanks to you." At that moment, I realized all of Daniel's actions were for his childhood friend. I confronted Daniel, but he dismissed me, saying he thought Rita was better for the role. Hurt by his defense of Rita, I raised my phone and told them that I had recorded what they said and wanted to go to the media to expose them. Rita panicked and tried to snatch my phone, accidentally cutting my neck with her headpiece. After that, afraid I would talk, she had Daniel lock me in a car. Bleeding profusely, I had no way to call for help and eventually died.

After leaving the hospital, Daniel called me several more times. When I kept hanging up, he sent me a text message: [Victoria, if you don't give the role to Rita today, we're breaking up.] I quickly replied, [Fine, let's break up.] Not long after, I received a notification from the production team. They informed me that I passed the audition and could start preparing to join the cast. During the script reading sessions, Daniel didn't contact me again. Instead, it was Rita who liked to call me frequently, "Sister, don't be mad at Daniel because of me. He just feels I need protection more than you do. Unlike you, who can seize any opportunity on your own." When I remained silent, she continued, "Sister, go apologize to Daniel. Be careful not to let your boyfriend be snatched away during your cold war." I sneered and mocked, "Are you a hen? All you do is cluck, cluck. By the way, Daniel and I have broken up. If you like him, take him." Before hanging up, I seemed to hear Daniel's frustrated voice on the other end. But my heart no longer felt the despair from my past life upon discovering the truth. This time, I only wanted them to pay for their actions. After half a month of script reading, the crew began the formal styling and preparation for filming. But the day before the opening ceremony, Rita suddenly showed up on set. She looked at the makeup artist talking to me and said, "You don't need to bother with her accessories. The lead actress has been changed. From now on, I am the lead actress of this drama."
