Chapter 1

My wife's dad, Philip, was in a car accident and needed a blood transfusion. The hospital's blood bank was in urgent need!

Only my wife's blood type matched.

I called her, and her assistant answered the phone provocatively.

"She's cooking me a birthday dinner."

"I don't care what she's doing. Get her to the hospital right away."

She didn't come, and eventually, her father died in hospital.

I calmly messaged her.

"From now on, there will only be that assistant in your life.

We are divorced."

She didn't reply to me until noon the next day.

"As you wish!"

"Hasn't the patient's daughter been contacted yet?"

A nurse hurried out of the operating room.

"The patient is bleeding more and more. If he doesn't receive a blood transfusion, his life will be in danger. Quickly notify his daughter to come."

I was so anxious and panicked that I hurriedly took out my cell phone to call my wife.

Tara Lawrence, my wife, was very impatient when she received my call!

"Ronan, are you done yet? I'm just spending my assistant's birthday with him. What do you mean by calling me again and again?"

"Come to the hospital quickly. Philip was in a car accident and urgently needed a blood transfusion."

"That's enough, Ronan. My daddy is so good to you, but you joked about his safety. You're so unreasonable."

Tara's voice was filled with anger.

"No, I..."

Before I could finish, the call was hung up.

I was stunned and quickly called back again.

"Sorry, the number you dialed is turned off..."

I couldn't believe that Tara would turn off her phone. Even if she didn't believe me, since this was about Philip's life, wasn't she really afraid of what might happen?

No, Philip treated me like his own son, I can't just stand there and watch him die.

I forced myself to calm down and rushed out of the hospital in a hurry.

I remembered that Tara's assistant lived in Room 701, Building 15, Bay Lane!

When I got there, I crazily banged on the door!

It was Tara who opened the door, wearing an apron and holding a spatula in her hand.

She had never cooked at home, because she said the kitchen fumes would damage her skin. But now she was actually cooking for an assistant.

But I didn't have time to care about all that. I grabbed her hand.

"Follow me now!"

She shook it off violently and questioned coldly.

"Ronan, what's wrong with you?!"

"There's no time to explain. Go to the hospital now."

"Stop!"

Her assistant, Wilson James, rushed out of the room and grabbed my wrist tightly.

"Mr. Sharon, what are you going to do?"

I looked at the nightgown he was wearing and found it extremely dazzling.

"Is it necessary to wear pajamas to celebrate your birthday?"

Anger flashed through my mind, but when I thought of Philip still lying on the operating table, his life hanging in the balance, I forced myself to suppress my anger.

"Tara, Philip really got into a car accident, and he needs you to go to the hospital for a blood transfusion to save his life. Only your blood type matches."

When Tara heard this, the cold look on her face turned into a sneer.

"Ronan, is this your way of winning my favor? Are you trying to trick me into going back by using my dad's safety as an excuse? You really make me sick."

"What?"

I stared at her blankly, feeling extremely absurd.

She thought I was using Philip's safety to win her favor? To trick her into going home?

How could she have such an idea?

The person lying on the operating table was her biological father, Philip who treated me like his own son. Even if I were a beast, I would never joke about Philip's life.

Did she think I was worse than an animal?

Wilson smiled and said, "Mr. Sharon, I know you are anxious, but please be patient. Ms. Lawrence will go back after spending my birthday with me. Don't worry, I will take good care of her."

I saw pride in his eyes.
