Chapter 3

"Jayleen, get her into the maid's uniform and take her to the kitchen to prepare some oatmeal for Luna Luciana."

The Alpha's voice was firm, his command leaving no room for defiance. As he spoke, he cradled Luciana in his arms, his expression dripping with affection, as if she were the most precious thing in the world.

"I'll take you upstairs to rest first," he murmured to her, his tone softening into something almost tender.

Jayleen and the other Omegas closed in around me, their presence suffocating. There was no escape, no way to resist. Reluctantly, I stood and followed them to the kitchen, the weight of my situation pressing heavily on my shoulders.

When I returned with the steaming bowl of oatmeal and entered their room, Luciana had already changed into a delicate nightgown, her figure subtly revealed, showing no signs of her supposed pregnancy. Solomon knelt beside her, his large, muscular frame dwarfing the bed as he tenderly massaged her legs.

I stood silently to the side, my legs trembling from exhaustion. Suddenly, Luciana teased Solomon by brushing her foot against his sensitive area. He inhaled sharply, a low growl escaping his throat. He quickly caught her pale foot, his grip firm but gentle, and glanced at me briefly before speaking.

"The oatmeal is getting cold. Perhaps you should eat something first," he said, his voice tinged with restraint.

Luciana looked up at him with tear-filled eyes, her lower lip trembling.

"Alpha Solomon, are you brushing me aside?" she asked, her voice trembling with feigned hurt.

Unable to bear her distress, Solomon's tone immediately softened. He wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close, and murmured soothing words.

"Luciana, how could I ever push you away? I’m just worried about hurting..."

Before he could finish, Luciana silenced him with a passionate kiss. The room soon filled with the sound of their mingled breaths and her soft, teasing murmurs. Despite this, neither of them seemed to care that I was still there, standing like an unwanted shadow in the corner.

By three or four in the morning, the room finally fell silent. The once-hot oatmeal had long since cooled, mirroring the icy numbness in my heart. Jayleen finally released me, but my room had been locked. Like a discarded object, Elia led me to the cramped utility room downstairs.

Once she locked the door and left, I leaned wearily against the wall, the cold oatmeal in my hands. I forced myself to eat it, knowing I needed the strength. No matter what, I had to protect this child. He was my only family in this world.

Being an Omega and an orphan, I had always yearned for a family of my own. In high school, Solomon was like a radiant sun to me, his Alpha presence commanding and magnetic. Feeling unworthy, I admired him from afar, never daring to hope for more. When I learned that the Taylor pack had fallen into ruin and his parents had taken their own lives, I mustered the courage to find him, wandering the streets like a broken shadow.

Under the guise of repaying the Taylor family's past kindness, I took him in, cared for him, and used my meager savings to encourage him to rebuild his pack. Later, in the dim light of our small apartment, he proposed to me, his voice steady with promise. He swore we would build a family together, a pack of our own.

But when Luciana returned, all those promises shattered like glass. Years of devotion meant nothing in the face of their past infatuation. The bond we had formed, the life we had started to build—it was all swept away by her arrival.

Lost in thought, I suddenly remembered something. Back then, to help Solomon gather funds for his pack, I had sold the locket my family had left me. The director of the orphanage where I was found had once said, "I couldn’t remember anything at that time, except for the locket I clung to so tightly."

They had tried to search for my family, but there was never any trace. Could it be the keepsake Luciana had mentioned in my past life? Perhaps my family wasn’t entirely gone. Maybe, somewhere in this vast world, I still had relatives waiting to be found.
