Redemption: Love Prescription Chapter 1

On the eve of Christmas, the village river was infected with bacteria. The whole village was suffering from uremia, blood vessels burst, and they were all dying.

My fiancé, who was the only person in charge of the special medicine, finally agreed to bring me the medicine after I begged him repeatedly.

But when the patient was critically ill and urgently needed life-saving medicine, Joseph Grove suddenly said he had something to do and broke his promise.

I stood at the door of the intensive care unit at a loss and watched fifty-six cold bodies being pushed out.

Because my parents were critically ill again, I called Joseph to ask for medicine, but I heard the voice of Norah Jones who had grown up with Joseph.

"Joseph is at my house, what's wrong?"

I asked, "Why is he there? Where's the medicine?"

Joseph grabbed the phone.

He said impatiently, "Why are you yelling? They won't die without the medicine for one day. I'll send it to you tomorrow."

But they would indeed die if he delayed for one more hour.

On that day, the seventy-two bodies in the village all lay neatly in the morgue.

"Ms. Milton, if you can't bring the medicine soon, we can only watch more patients die."

The attending doctor looked tired.

In just three hours, fifty-six bodies had been pushed out.

They were the elder and children in the village.

The morgue was almost full of cold corpses.

But the death toll was still mounting.

Without the specific medicine, they couldn't stop such a severe disease.

My face turned pale, and I suddenly gathered myself and nodded repeatedly.

"The medicine will be here soon, very soon..."

Would the medicine come?

I didn't even dare to think about it.

There were hundreds of missed calls on my phone.

Joseph, who was supposed to deliver the special medicine five hours ago, disappeared with the special medicine.

Fifty-six lives were tragically lost.

But the medicine was already in Yoveet...

But I didn't have time to be sad, because another group of people started to be critically ill.

I clutched the phone tightly and called Joseph over and over again. The pain in my abdomen caused by nervousness made me curl up and sweat. For the first time, I felt that I was so close to death.

I thought I was dying.

But the call was answered, and Norah's voice was heard.

"Joseph is at my house, what's wrong?"

I was so angry that I shouted out.

"Shouldn't he have sent the medicine here now? Why is he with you now?"

There was silence on the other end for a while, and soon someone else answered the call. It was Joseph.

He sounded calm, with a hint of impatience.

"Why are you yelling at Norah? I can't deliver it today because I have something else to do. They won't die without the medicine for a day. I'll deliver it tomorrow."

"Do you think they won't die?"

I burst into tears and almost begged him.

"Joseph, the doctor said my parents are dying and they need this special medicine immediately. You don't have to deliver it yourself, you can ask your assistant..."

Before I could finish my words, Joseph interrupted me impatiently.

"My assistant is busy, so he can't send it."

But I called his assistant ten minutes ago, and his assistant told me he was in Yoveet.

But I didn't have time to question Joseph, so I gave in again.

"Then tell me where the medicine is and I'll get it myself. Please, they're dying soon."

But Joseph doubted me.

"Mia, are you trying to trick me again? Now you even use your parents' illness to try to figure out my whereabouts. You're crazy."

I was stunned for a long while, unable to believe it.

It turned out that I was so vicious in Joseph's eyes.

"Joseph, why is the baby not moving? Is he going to die?"

Norah's voice sounded sad. Joseph ignored me and quickly held Norah in his arms and comforted her.

"It's okay, I'll take you to the hospital right away."

I never heard him speak so gently.

But I quickly destroyed this warm atmosphere.

"Joseph, I'm pregnant. If you don't give me the medicine, I will die with the child."

The child was the only thing I had that could restrain Joseph.

There was silence for ten seconds, but it felt like a century had passed to me.

Finally, Joseph said angrily, "You'd better not lie to me."

Then, I received a message.

There was an address.
