Chapter 1
Amanda's P. O. V
It was late evening when I decided to go home after visiting my parents who came from the north. I was now walking alone through this dark and vast forest.
As I walked, I sensed that someone was following me. I glanced around, but there was no one in sight. When I turned back, I was startled to see a terrifying big lone wolf staring at me.
It lunged at me quickly and I tried to fight back, but I was weaker, and soon enough, its strength overwhelmed me. It stabbed my stomach with its sharp claws, and I felt the warm blood flowing down my legs.
I growled loudly in pain just before I saw Alpha Enzo arrive, and for a moment, I felt a flicker of safety because my mate had come to my rescue.
I expected Enzo to kill the wolf that had harmed me, but to my disbelief, he let it run away. He made no effort to protect me or to show that he was willing to kill me.
Now, he looked at me as if nothing had happened, and he didn’t even bother to ask if I was okay.
The worst feeling you'll ever feel is being with the person who means the world to you, knowing that you mean nothing to them.

When we arrived back at the house, Samara, our servant, immediately took care of my wounds. She was shocked to see me bleeding and soon discovered that I had lost the baby.
“Does Enzo know about this?” she asked worriedly.
“He doesn’t care about me, Samara. He just let the wolf that hurt our baby escape.” I said sadly.
I shouldn’t have been surprised, though. From the very beginning, it was clear that Alpha Enzo had no love for me; our marriage was just a contract meant to create a powerful alliance between our families.
“Are you just going to endure his cold treatment?” Samara asked seriously.
“I don’t know, but I think I won’t stay here much longer.” I felt an urge pushing me to leave before I got hurt even more.
“What are you talking about, Amanda? Are you going to leave me?” I was startled to see Alpha Enzo stepping out of the bathroom.
I became anxious at his sudden appearance. “Huh? I didn’t say anything. I just meant I’m going to wash up later.” I mumbled.
He didn’t ask any further questions and left the room. I noticed that he had been leaving frequently, even when it wasn’t a hunting day.
“By the way, where are my clothes?” he asked, looking at me with a hint of confusion.
Before he left, I had been the one preparing his clothes. But at that moment, I was too upset to serve him, especially after he showed me how little he cared.
“It’s in the closet. Sorry, I can’t assist you today. I’m not feeling well after losing so much blood,” I replied.
“Okay, just stay here. Don’t go out, you know many lone wolves are lurking outside. Look what happened to you last night…” he said, almost insinuating that it was my fault for going out.
I fell silent, holding back my anger as I endured the pain while Samara stitched up my large wounds.
After Enzo got dressed, he quickly left the room. Samara and I exchanged glances, both of us disappointed by my mate’s heartlessness.
“Amanda, while you still have the chance, you should leave that cold-hearted man. You deserve someone who will love you unconditionally,” she advised.
I wondered for a moment. I knew I deserved better, yet I couldn’t understand why I still loved him despite everything he had done.
Why was I still hoping he would change one day?

The next morning, I found myself at the breakfast table with Enzo and my cousin Amelia. As we ate, I noticed he was putting delicious food on Amelia’s plate.
I struggled to eat with my bandages on, and not once did he look my way, his attention was solely on Amelia. Though I was used to this by now I still feel jealous.
Just as I reached for a piece of bread, Enzo slapped my hand away, startling me.
“Amanda, I bought this for Amelia. Have some respect,” he dictated.
I bit my lip, unable to suppress the hurt I felt from his treatment. “I’m sorry. I didn’t know.”
“It’s okay, Amanda. You can take one,” Amelia offered her plate to me, but I declined to avoid provoking Enzo’s anger.
After breakfast, Enzo started getting ready to leave with his pack. As I searched through the closet for his clothes, I was taken aback when I found a beautiful pink dress.
“Who own this?” I asked, holding it up.
Enzo quickly snatched the dress from my hands and shoved it back into the closet. “It’s a gift for Amelia’s upcoming birthday,” he explained.
My mouth fell open in disbelief. He had bought a gift for my cousin, yet he had never given me anything—not even on my birthday.
I fought back my tears, allowing the hurt to simmer beneath the surface as I watched him do whatever he wanted, even though it felt so incredibly unfair.
