Reborn Luna Rejecting my ruthless Alpha
Reborn Luna Rejecting my ruthless Alpha Chapter 1
Freya POV
The dank, musty air of the dungeon clung to me like a second skin.
Me – the Luna of Silverfang Pack huddled in the corner of my cold, stone cell, my hands protectively cradling my belly. My pups within me stirred restlessly as if they could sense my distress or maybe from hunger.
I’ve been trapped in this darkness for what – days? Weeks? I lost count already. But I have to stay alive… I have to keep my pups alive so that Rowan would find us.
The rogues who had kidnapped me were cruel and merciless. They’ve taunted me daily, reminding me of how helpless I was; how despite being the Luna of the mighty Alpha Rowan – he was yet to come to my rescue. But I’ve refused to give up hope.
Rowan was the most powerful Alpha among all the packs in the region. Surely, he would come for me. He has to. I was on my way from the hospital to tell him that I was pregnant when I was kidnapped – my beta was killed and so all the guards with me.
Trembling, I closed my eyes again to try to contact Rowan. I knew my wolf was getting weak from the lack of food and air but I had to keep trying. Although I’ve tried countless times to mind-link him, it has been fruitless so far. It was either he would leave the link open and wouldn’t say a word or he would not respond.
But for the sake of our unborn pups, I had to keep fighting.
“Rowan,” I whispered in my mind again, pouring every ounce of my remaining strength into the link. “Please, my mate. I need you. The rogues have taken me. I heard them mention going south and I don’t know if that was where we ended up. Please… for me… for the sake of our unborn babies who are in danger. Please find us.”
I waited and for a moment, there was nothing but the usual silence that had greeted me from previous attempts. I had nearly ended the link when I felt a flicker of response. I felt Rowan's presence as he connected to the link and my heart soared with hope.
“Rowan darling –”
I started to say when he interrupted me.
“Enough of your drama, Freya,” his voice echoed, cold and dismissive. “I’m in the middle of an important meeting. Stop trying to get my attention with these games.”
My heart sank. “But Rowan, I’m not…”
The connection ended abruptly. Tears streamed down my face as the reality of what I was truly in dawned on me. How could he believe I was just being dramatic? How could he abandon me – abandon our pups? I’ve been gone for days now, how can he not know that I was missing?
He had become distant a year ago for sure. At first, I thought it was because of the stress that came from running the pack but thinking about it now, everything had changed when he brought Amara home. A witch with a mysterious background whom he claimed to have rescued from war.
The cell door creaked open and two burly rogues entered.
“Time’s up, Luna,” one of them growled and roughly hauled me to my feet. “Boss wants to see you.”
I stumbled, my legs weak from days of confinement and malnutrition. As they dragged me through the dark passage, my mind raced. Who was their boss? Was it their boss that had ordered my kidnap?
Finally, we arrived at a well-lit chamber. I blinked, my eyes struggling to adjust to the sudden brightness. As my vision cleared, I froze… standing before me with a cold triumph on her face, was Amara.
A-Amara?” I stammered “What are you doing here? Did Rowan send you to rescue me?”
“Rowan?” she laughed crouching down to my level “You poor thing. He didn’t send me., he has no idea where you are – and he doesn’t care to find out.”
My heart sank as realization dawned on me. If Rowan didn’t send her for me then…
“No!” I whispered, my voice cracking. “It can’t be…".
Amara’s emerald eyes glittered with amusement. “Oh, but it is, dear Luna. Do you know why I am here now?”
She moved closer to me, her smile becoming more vicious. “You know, I almost feel sorry for you. After everything you did to secure your love for Rowan and yet he didn’t hesitate to cast you aside.”
My heart clutched with pain and anger as a tear escaped my eyes. “Why?” I managed to choke out. “We welcomed you, protected you. So this was you all along? Just wait until I tell Rowan what you did!”
She threw her head backwards and laughed. “Protected me? You complained, nagged and fought me every day in the pack because you were worried, I was competing for your love with Rowan. The truth is… Yes, I was. I needed access to your pack and your beloved mate,” her gaze dropped to my stomach as she reached out and placed a hand on it “But you had to ruin it by getting pregnant. You left me with no other choice, Freya.”
“What are you talking about? I’m not...”
“Don’t lie, Freya. You’re pregnant, although, Rowan doesn’t know but I do. The children would change his mind and make me lose my touch with him. It’ll just cause more nuisance, that’s why I have to kill you and your precious child.”
“No!” I screamed struggling weakly against the rogues pinning me down. You can’t do this to me. I won’t let you!”
“I already have,” she drawled and nodded to the men who started dragging me towards a hole at the centre of the room.
I fought, cried, begged but my pleas fell on deaf ears. As we neared the hole, Amara leaned in close, her breath hot against my ears.
“Don’t worry, the death will be quick. Until another lifetime, Luna… Your sacrifice won’t be in vain.”
With one final shove, I was thrown into the pit. As I tumbled down, I could see Amara, looking down at me, a satisfied smile on her face.
I closed my eyes, welcoming the darkness. Instead of fear… all I could feel was anger – rage that burned from inside my soul. I wanted justice… for me and my innocent pups, for all the innocent blood that was shed … a fire ignited in my soul as I sank deeper…
Was this really my end?
