Chapter 1

On Women's Day, I was looking forward to a gift from my husband. Instead, he came home with the police to arrest me.

I was told I'd committed a hit-and-run that killed an elderly man.

I was in complete shock the entire time.

My husband, a lawyer, chose justice over family and represented the plaintiff.

The chain of evidence was airtight. The attorney defending me couldn't find a single angle to fight back.

My career was destroyed. I spent the rest of my life buried in debt.

And my husband married the dead man's daughter.

I knew I'd been framed, but even on my deathbed, I couldn't clear my name. I died with nothing but bitterness.

Then I opened my eyes, and I was back. Back to the day of my arrest.

Ten minutes before the police arrived.

What was I supposed to do?

——

This time, I wouldn't just clear my name. I would make sure the person who framed me paid for every last thing they'd done.

I went over every detail in my mind.

Back then, Tyler James hadn't just represented the plaintiff. He'd also been a witness.

He testified in court that he'd seen the entire accident unfold and watched me get out of the car.

According to his testimony, I'd panicked after stepping out, then abandoned the vehicle and fled.

He said he tried to call out to me, but I ignored him and kept running.

He said he tried calling my phone, but I never picked up.

My own husband. The man who shared my bed. Standing on the witness stand against me.

That was the moment my heart turned to ash.

I couldn't understand it. The man who swore he loved me, who promised to protect me for the rest of our lives, refused to believe me.

But when he ended up with the victim's daughter, everything clicked into place. He and his mistress had set me up together. The problem was I had no proof. No evidence to back up an accusation like that.

Even if he walked through that door with the police right now, I still had no way to fight back. I'd just be reliving the same nightmare.

The time I had left was too short. There was nothing I could do.

Wait.

I'd overlooked something important.

In my past life, this had blindsided me. I'd been an emotional wreck. In that state of mind, I'd missed too many details. At the very least, I hadn't been thinking clearly before the trial.

The year I spent in prison, I'd been so broken I wanted to die.

It wasn't until after my release, when I found out Tyler had married his assistant, that something inside me reignited. Finding the truth and making that disgusting pair pay became the only reason I kept breathing.

But by then, too much evidence had been destroyed. I was alone, and there was nothing I could do to turn things around.

Now was different. I'd come back with my memories intact.

The first thing that came to mind was the security cameras. We had cameras in the house.

Last time, I'd been too frantic. By the time I thought of the footage, it had already been overwritten.

But not this time. I looked up at the camera mounted on the wall.

I hadn't left the house all day. The footage would prove my innocence.

Now I actually wanted Tyler to walk through that door with the police. I was dying to see the look on his face when he saw the camera.

This time, I would ask the officers to check the footage myself. I wouldn't give that treacherous pair a single chance to tamper with anything.

I glanced at the clock again. Eight minutes until the police arrived.

But the cameras alone weren't enough. I kept digging through my memories, searching for more ways to turn this around.

This time, I had to win. Decisively.

Right. The call records.

Tyler claimed he'd called me multiple times, but my phone had zero missed calls.

If his phone didn't show any outgoing calls either, that part of his story would collapse on its own.

One lie. That was all I needed. One crack in his story, and the rest would start to crumble.

What else?

Yes. Tyler had called me yesterday, saying he was finishing up a business trip and coming home to spend the holiday with me.

That was crucial.
