Due to drinking too much, I went to the bathroom again. On the way, I passed a partially open private room and overheard someone saying, "I must say, Brennan, what you did on the playground today was really unexpected. I heard you and Mikaela were childhood sweethearts. Do you really not like her anymore?"

Brennan took a drag from his cigarette and blew out a smoke ring. "Childhood sweethearts? Just because we grew up together and our parents pushed us together, I thought I liked her. But it's just an ordinary friendship. Her rational and calm personality is not what I like at all."

"Then who do you really like?" someone teased.

Brennan pulled Hailey closer. "Of course, it's Hailey."

The hallway was narrow and someone bumped into me, causing the already ajar door to open fully. The people inside looked at me and fell silent.

Brennan tapped his cigarette into the ashtray and frowned at me. "We already agreed to break up. You won't pester me, right? Why are you here now?"

Hailey immediately sat on Brennan's lap, wrapping her arms around his neck, staking her claim. "I told you, you never know the ending until it's over. Now that Brennan chose me, you're not thinking of taking him back, are you?"

Brennan patted her shoulder reassuringly. "Don't worry, I don't go back to my exes."

I couldn't help but laugh. These two really were a match, equally narcissistic. "Relax, I was just passing by. I don't deal in garbage collection."

As I turned to leave, I saw Brennan's face darken for a moment. The feelings that had been worn away in our past life were completely gone now and their so-called joyous life no longer stirred any emotions in me.

Just as I turned, I bumped into someone's chest. Instinctively, I placed my hands on his chest for support. It felt quite firm. Looking up, I saw it was Richard.

The eldest son of the Baggins Family from the northern part of the city, he was five years older than me and had just returned from studying abroad to take over the family business this year.

"Let me ask a personal question, have you two ever done it?"

Brennan scoffed. "She's very conservative. She insisted on waiting until we were engaged to do anything. She's boring and rigid."

Hailey's dissatisfied voice came out, "If you succeed in proposing tonight, won't you be able to marry the beauty?"

"Now you are the beauty. To celebrate us being together, why don't we go to my place tonight?"

"You're terrible!" she sulked.

The man in front of him had an unreadable expression and a magnetic voice. "You two already broke up? Are you single now?"

Listening to the conversation inside made me frown in disgust. The excessive alcohol in my stomach was becoming unbearable. I responded casually and hurried towards the bathroom.

Just as I was about to bump into someone again, a hand wrapped around my waist. Unable to hold it any longer, I vomited on the person's shirt.
