Chapter 5

Without hesitation, I replied, "I'm going back to work!"

"Great! I'm all for it! I never agreed with you quitting your job to become a housewife in the first place. Trent was lucky to marry you, but he didn't even know how to appreciate it!" she said, still fuming.

Back then, I had a monthly salary of twenty thousand dollars, while Trent earned only ten thousand dollars.

Besides, my family background was far more privileged than his.

I had foolishly believed his sweet talk, giving up my well-paying job to become a full-time housewife.

After the wedding, I gradually lost myself, becoming consumed by household chores.

"And you? You're nothing but trash, a pollutant wherever you go!"

I couldn't help but laugh.

Even the courthouse staff couldn't suppress their amusement.

Trent's face turned an ugly shade of livid. He hurriedly signed the papers and stormed off with the divorce documents in hand.

I carefully tucked away my divorce certificate, feeling a weight lift from my shoulders.

With that toxic man out of my life, good things started happening almost immediately.

Just as I stepped out of the civil affairs office, I received a call for a job interview.

I changed into professional attire and headed to the interview with a renewed sense of purpose.

But the moment I saw the interviewer, we both froze.
