Rebirth: Launch My Revenge! Chapter 1

Sarah, my adopted daughter, got into a drunk driving accident and fled the scene, asking me to take the blame.

She knelt at my feet, crying, "Mom, please help me! I just got accepted into the Havenbrook University! My life can't be ruined..."

I reluctantly agreed with tears flowing down my face.

During my three years in prison, neither Sarah nor Charles visited me once.

When I was released, I found out Charles had remarried, and Sarah kicked me out, calling me a convict and telling me to stay away from them.

All my assets had already been transferred to them.

With nowhere to go, I wandered the streets aimlessly and was eventually hit by a truck.

When I opened my eyes again, I found myself back on the day Sarah received her acceptance letter.

Charles eagerly approached me, "I would like to buy Sarah a Mercedes to celebrate her getting into the Havenbrook University!"

Sarah shouted, "Daddy, you're the best!"

This time, I decided to see how this freeloading coward and his heartless daughter would live a life without my help.

1

"Got it! I got into the Havenbrook University!!"

"Sweetie, you got into the Havenbrook University! Amazing! Honey, didn't you get a thirty thousand bonus last month? Let's buy Sarah a Mercedes!"

"Daddy, you're the greatest!!"

The voices around me were both strange and familiar.

When I opened my eyes, I was being suffocated by their hugs.

I finally realized I had been reborn to the day Sarah received her acceptance letter.

They were jumping around with excitement, but I only felt cold inside.

Seeing my expression, Charles poked my cheek and said, "What's wrong? So happy you're stunned? Honey, this is just the beginning of a wonderful life. Sarah is so outstanding. She'll make lots of money in the future!"

As soon as he finished speaking, Sarah grabbed my hand excitedly, pulling me towards the door, "Of course! I will make a million a year, I'll buy you a big villa! Let's go, Mom! Time to buy a car!"

Recalling that all my suffering in my previous life started with this car, I yanked my hand away, "No car!"

Sarah was stunned, her eyes filling with tears, looking extremely aggrieved.

Charles, distressed, turned to me and shouted, "Celia, what's wrong with you? Getting into the Havenbrook University is a big deal! It's just a car, it's not a big deal. You are her mom, you should be happy with that!"

Sarah's demeanor shifted. She grabbed my LV bag from the table and threw it to the ground, crying, "Other parents earn money for their kids, but you're so selfish! How can you afford such an expensive bag for yourself but not a car for me? Is it because I'm not your biological daughter? Aren't you afraid I'll abandon you when you're old?"

I slapped her across the face.

The room fell silent.

I picked up my bag and left.

Behind me, I could hear Sarah's crying and Charles' furious yelling, "Celia! How dare you hit my daughter?!"

2

In my past life, after we bought the car, Charles insisted that Sarah drive us to his hometown to show off.

I couldn't dampen their joy and agreed.

That night, all three of us drank a lot.

I didn't know when Sarah had sneaked out with the car.

At dawn, she stumbled back home, crying that she had hit someone and fled.

At that time, Sarah was my everything. Seeing her so distraught, and under the Zanes' manipulations, I took the blame.

Not only that, but Charles made me sign divorce agreement, saying it was to protect Sarah from this accident.

During my years in prison, Charles never visited me, nor did Sarah. I had a bad feeling, but I couldn't believe it.

After my release, I returned to the house where we had lived, only to find it sold and everything changed.

Even my company had gone bankrupt.

I searched for them for a long time.

They were living in a villa and driving luxury cars. Charles and Sarah were with another woman, looking like a happy family.

When I confronted them, Charles showed no remorse, instead shielding the woman and saying, "I can live without a wife, but Sarah can't live without a mother! Don't blame me for being heartless. Blame yourself for having a criminal record! No one wants to associate with someone with a shady past!"

Sarah clung to the woman, glaring at me with disgust. "You've been to prison and still want to be my mother? Don't disgust me! Get lost!"

With nowhere to go, I wandered the streets aimlessly until I was hit by a runaway truck.

3

After leaving home, I drove straight to the office to check the accounts.

I checked from morning till night.

Fortunately, everything was in order.

So, in my previous life, the company's bankruptcy must had been caused by Charles after I went to prison.

I couldn't understand why the two people I had treated with all my heart were so cruel to me.

In my twitter, I saw a post from Charles and Sarah at a Mercedes dealership, posing with flowers and their new car.

The caption read: [No one loves me like Dad. Dad is the best! ]

I called Charles, but he didn't answer.

When I rushed home in a panic, I found the bedroom in complete disarray.

All my valuable bags and jewelry were gone.

There were only some worthless clothes scattered on the floor.

I took out my phone to call the police but hesitated, thinking about the new car Charles had just bought for Sarah.

Just then, the door opened.

Charles walked in with the bouquet from the dealership. Seeing the mess, he gently placed the flowers in my arms, saying, "These are for you. Don't be mad, honey. I'll get a cleaning service to tidy up. I took our daughter to get the new car, and she's thrilled. She even forgave you for hitting her today, but you should still apologize. You did hit her, after all."

I pushed Charles' hand away. "Where are my bags and jewelry?"

Looking hurt, Charles replied, "All the money is with you. What was I supposed to do? You hit her and left. I had to comfort her somehow. The only way was to sell your things to buy the car..."

There was no money left. What I earned, they spent even more.

Just her tutoring fees cost tens of thousands each month.

Her grades were the result of my hard-earned money.

After work, I had to check her homework and push her to study, but Charles only cared about taking her to eat delicious food and spending my money to make her happy.

I knew she was closer to him, but I thought that playing good cop, bad cop was necessary for her to grow up well.

I believed she would eventually understand me.

Instead, I was met with betrayal and abandonment.

Anger boiled over as I looked at Charles' shameless face. "Do you know how much you spend each month? There's no money left! We just finished paying off the mortgage for house last month. How dare you sell my things?"

Charles frowned and, after a moment, said, "Celia, don't be so petty. We're family. Money can be earned back, but our daughter's happiness is priceless!"

"Happiness? You make it sound easy."

My words had barely left my mouth when Sarah burst into tears. "I hate you, Celia! You don't love me at all!"

With that, she stormed out of the house, slamming the door.

Charles turned and yelled at me, "If anything happens to Sarah, you'll regret it!"

He then ran after her.

I sat on the sofa, feeling a growing sense of dread.

I knew I had to divorce Charles.

I tried to calm myself and started gathering the divorce documents.

The thought of giving him half my assets made me even more agitated.

Two hours later, Charles called, sounding frantic. "Are you happy now? Sarah's really in trouble! Come to my parents' house right away!"

Before I could respond, he hung up

After a moment's hesitation, I decided to go. I needed to find out what was happening.

4

When I arrived, it was already midnight.

The small house was brightly lit.

I could vaguely hear someone is crying.

As soon as I opened the door, Sarah rushed over and knelt at my feet. Her eyes were swollen from crying, full of hope as she looked at me. "Mom! Please help me! Only you can save me!"

I understood what was happening but pretended to be concerned, helping her up. "What happened?"

Tears streaming down her face, Sarah's voice trembled. "Mom, I hit someone with the car. I hit someone!"

The smell of alcohol was strong.

Ignoring my disgust, I asked, "Where's the injured person?"

Charles quickly stepped in, blocking her and handing me a glass of water with a concerned look.

But my strong aversion to alcohol made me recognize it immediately.

The water was spiked with liquor.

He wanted me to take the blame and frame me for drunk driving. He was determined to ruin me.

Seeing I wouldn't take the glass, Charles moved closer, sighing. "You've had a long day. Have some water, and we'll talk."

I took the glass and pretended to take a small sip. "Go ahead."

"Well, Celia." Charles hesitated before continuing. "After you yelled at Sarah, she got upset, drank some alcohol, and drove to seek comfort from her grandparents. She ended up hitting someone..."

"What?! We need to take the person to the hospital immediately!"

I moved to leave, but Charles blocked my way. "Celia, don't you understand? Sarah was driving under the influence and fled the scene. She'll go to jail. She just got accepted to the Havenbrook University. If she goes to jail, her life will be ruined!"

Sarah collapsed onto the floor, sobbing.

Charles gripped my shoulders. "Celia, Sarah needs you. Only you can save her. You must take on the responsibility of being her mother."

"What do you mean?"

Charles dropped to his knees, desperation in his voice. "There are no cameras at the village entrance, and the person she hit didn't see Sarah's face. Just say you were the one driving. You are the one who could save Sarah!"

His parents also knelt down. "Celia, we've never blamed you for not having your own children. We've treated Sarah like our own granddaughter. She got into such a good university. She can't be ruined now, or we won't die in peace!"

Sarah looked up at me, tears streaming down her face. "Mom, I want to go to university. I don't want to go to jail! Please save me!"

I feigned tears. "But Sarah, I don't want to go to jail either..."

5

The whole family was stunned.

Sarah was on the verge of hitting the wall. "If I have to go to jail, I might as well die!"

Charles pulled her back and shouted at me, "Look at what you're doing to her, Celia! Why are you so selfish? If you don't take the blame, should I go instead?"

I raised an eyebrow. "Why can't you go?"

"I..."

Charles stuttered, unable to find an excuse. His father then spoke up, "If you hadn't hit Sanning, she wouldn't have gone out to drink. She wouldn't have hit anyone if she hadn't drunk. And Charles needs to take care of us. Your parents are already dead, you have no one to care about!"

I glared at him until he shut up.

The family cried and begged all night.

As dawn broke, I pretended to relent. "At least let me see the injured person first. If Sarah accidentally killed her, I need to be prepared to face the consequences."

They exchanged nervous glances before making a call. After a while, they reluctantly agreed to take me to a hospital in town.

In the hospital bed lay a woman, wrapped in bandages and looking severely injured.

But her face was radiant, and I recognized her immediately.

She was Charles' new wife, the one he married after I went to prison.

But I still suppressed my immense hatred.

I watched as she pointed at me and shouted to the nurse, "It was her! She was the one driving drunk and hit me!"

The nurse glared at me before leaving to call the police. I didn't stop her.

The room fell into an eerie silence as we waited for the police.

I kept silent.

Charles and Sarah probably thought that I was ready to take the blame.

I observed the guilty looks on Charles and Sarah's faces, and the woman exchanging flirtatious glances with Charles. The two of them don't look like they have nothing to do with each other.

The show was about to begin.

6

The police arrived and began questioning.

I learned that the woman's name was Emily Sue, a name that oozed charm.

She angrily described how I had supposedly hit her while driving drunk, detailing the incident vividly.

Charles and Sarah sobbed as they listened.

When she finished, Charles solemnly swore, "Honey, go with the police. I'll take care of everything at home and wait for you. We should sign the divorce agreement before you go. You know how important Sarah's future is. She can't be linked to a criminal."

Sarah was crying too hard to speak clearly, "Mom...When you are released..."

As the police prepared to take me away, I stopped them. "Wait!"

Sarah thought I couldn't bear to part with her and reached to hug me. I pushed her away. "It wasn't me driving drunk last night. It was her."

Sarah jumped in shock, her voice shrill. "Mom, are you crazy? Why are you blaming me for what you did?"

Charles, ignoring the police, slapped me hard. "You stupid woman! what nonsense are you talking about? Shut up!"

Emily also chimed in, "Sir, I saw her clearly last night. She's lying to avoid being imprisoned, willing to frame her own daughter. Such a person deserves severe punishment!"

The commotion attracted other patients and their families, who crowded the doorway, eager to see the so-called heartless mother.

Ignoring their judgmental stares, I pulled out my phone and played the recording from the previous night at their house.
