Quiet Devotion

She yanked me into her arms, licking the blood from her lips, her face inexplicably flushed with excitement:

“Baby, your strength is getting stronger and stronger. Come, let me check if there’s anywhere else that’s grown.”

The smell of cigar on her, along with those words, made me feel instantly nauseous.

Anne, hearing the commotion from the bathroom, wrapped herself hastily in a bathrobe and rushed out. “Yale, are you feeling unwell?”

Yumi’s face instantly darkened. “No wonder you never agreed to go abroad with me!”

She knew perfectly well that, because of special reasons, it was harder for my Tawner Family to go abroad than to climb to the sky.

In the end, it was my love that gave her the courage to humiliate me like this.

I suppressed the nausea in my chest and said coldly, “You cheated on me and betrayed me and you still have the nerve to question me?”

She trembled, pointing at Anne who was still dripping wet and shouted, “Yale, do you even have a conscience? Who’s the one really cheating? You came all this way just to let me watch you cheat on me with my own eyes?”

Cheating on her?

I suppressed my anger and stared coldly at the woman in front of me, who had become utterly unrecognizable. “Yumi, besides these filthy thoughts in your head, is there anything else left? You’re as disgusting as the smell of smoke on your body.”

Yumi’s eyes darkened at my words. “Disgusting? What about her? What do you mean by being alone in a room with this bitch?”

“What, just because you can have a like-minded dining buddy, I can’t have a bed buddy who matches me in body and mind?”

I deliberately pulled Anne into my arms and kissed her boldly. Then, in fluent French, I said, “Anne, I specially prepared a butler outfit for you today. Have you decided how you’ll tear it off?”

Anne had long envied Yumi for being the one I loved exclusively. Now that she had the chance, she didn’t hesitate—she pressed down on the back of my head and deepened the kiss.

Yumi was trembling with rage, gritting her teeth, not even noticing how strange my French sounded. She raised her hand to pull me and Anne apart—but Anne swung first, landing a heavy punch that sent Yumi crashing to the floor.

I raised my gun at Yumi once again. “After cheating on me, using your lover to teach your ‘arrogant boyfriend’ a lesson, leaving me tortured and broken, have you decided how you’re going to die?”
