Chapter 6

I stifled a laugh as I walked out the door.

Walking along the mountain path, I could no longer hold back and burst into laughter.

Just three more days, and this mountain would be leveled to the ground.

They were right; there were plenty of fruits here. I picked a few fresh peaches—deliciously sweet.

After eating my fill, I lingered by the mountainside for a long time, noticing several large rocks that had already started to crack.

Perfect. I smiled with satisfaction.

After eating my fill, I returned home empty-handed.

They all stared intently at my empty hands. I spread them open—nothing.

Nina was about to hit me.

"You useless wretch! Can't even find a few fruits? Normally, this mountain is full of fruit trees."

Suppressing my laughter, I explained.

"Isn't it because of the heavy rain? Everything got washed away; there really wasn't a single fruit."

While they were feeling disappointed, suddenly, someone outside called out.

My heart skipped a beat—oh no, the rescue team had arrived.

Sure enough, I saw a few people in yellow uniforms standing outside the door asking.

"How many people are in the house? Would you like to come with us by boat now?"

The moment Thomas heard they could leave, he nodded eagerly.

"Yes, yes, we'll go with you right away."

No! We couldn't leave! If they left, they would survive!

I remembered what Nina said in my last life and quickly repeated it to stop Thomas.

"Think carefully. If you go with them, you'll either stay in a tent, cramped together in a damp little tent."

"Or stay in a hotel, and you know how much hotels cost these days—thousands per night. You're better off staying here with me. It's comfortable, and there's enough food. Anyway, this rain will stop in two or three days."

"Then, you can buy whatever you want to eat."
