Chapter 2

After Henry fell asleep, I quietly took his cell phone and sneaked back to the living room.

The password to unlock his cell phone was still the same as the day we got together. He used the date as the password.

During the four years of forced separation in different universities, I had always trusted him wholeheartedly. I never checked his cell phone when we were together.

"I think checking on someone's cell phone signifies the beginning of being distant from each other."

"It is probably as a response to my trust. Henry didn't delete or hide anything. Everything was there without any concealment."

Judging from how he had nicknamed the girl's WhatsApp account, I could feel his affection for her.

The nickname of the girl's WhatsApp was Libby Candy.

And below her account was mine, which read, [Lucy Sweetheart.]

Seeing such consistency, I couldn't help but sneer.

Soon, I was sad. I took a deep breath and clicked into a chat box as if I were going to die.

The girl's name was Libby Shawn. She was 21 years old and currently studying at a university. She, who was young, was invincible.

Their chat records were filled with her enthusiasm and courage.

She knew about my existence and that my wedding date with Henry was approaching.

So, Libby made a desperate move and proposed to take a set of wedding photos with Henry. She said, [I want to be the first woman to take wedding photos with you. When you take wedding photos with her, you will think of me. You will never forget me.]

Henry comforted her, saying, [How can I forget you? Except for getting married, you can do whatever you want.]

Libby felt wronged. She said, [But taking wedding photos is ultimately a fake thing. How can it compare to her wearing a wedding dress and walking into the hall with you to have everyone's blessings?]

[But my love for you is genuine.]

I slid my fingertips inch by inch down the screen, getting more and more disappointed.

"It turns out that Henry, who had been having a heavy workload in recent months, used such an excuse to cover up his dates with Libby."

"It turns out that we suddenly no longer have sex with each other during this period because of Libby. She demanded that Henry not touch me, hoping that Henry would belong to her thoroughly."

"It turns out that on the night before my mother passed away in May, we stayed by her bedside. Henry had to leave early. It is because Libby got drunk at a gathering, and he was worried about her safety."

The words on the screen seemed to have blurred my vision.

Henry and I had been together for ten years. We had been fighting against our families for ten years.

"Now the fruit of our relationship is almost obtained out of my mother's passing away."

I thought we were like the protagonists in a romance movie, overcoming all obstacles and finally having a happy ending.

But the male lead, Henry, had appeared on another set, shooting another story about him and another woman.

I gasped for breath as if I would suffocate in the next second. I scrolled down to the bottom of the screen with my trembling fingers.

Their latest conversation started at the time when I was trying on wedding dresses this afternoon.

[Henry, are you as comfortable being with me as being with her? I am too naive and shy. I am afraid that I can't please you as well as she can.]

Then Libby sent a selfie of hers. She was lying on a bed in a hotel, wrapped in a white sheet.

Henry refuted without hesitation, saying, [Of course, I'm more comfortable being with you. I like your shy and pure appearance. I can't stand bold and wanton women.]

Libby was dissatisfied, saying, [Humph. Then why are you willing to marry that woman and leave me behind? I don't care. I'm keeping the ring. I will return it to you after you coax me.]

Henry replied after a long time, [Be good.]

It was just before he entered the house.

"A bold and wanton woman. Is Henry referring to me?"
