One Luna, Two Mates

Alpha Charles Dmitri wasted no time at all, once Alpha Sebastian was dead.

Immediately, he grabbed me by the arm pulling me away from what should have been my mating ceremony, and when I screamed, cried, and begged all at once, he threatened to kill my entire family in the same way he killed Alpha Sebastian if I made things difficult for him.

He was probably too young then and that was why I didn’t feel it, but having him close to me now in the way that he was, I felt all the sparks and connection that mates were supposed to feel. We were truly mates, but I didn’t know if I could handle a man who killed someone I loved and took me away from my family in the ruthless manner that he did.

I couldn’t help but continuously ask myself why I was cursed by the moon goddess with having two mates, especially one as ruthless as Alpha Charles.

My feelings never mattered with Alpha Charles, because later that week, we had our mating ceremony, and I became his Luna.

Although we were mates, I was reluctant to get close to him in any way and it took him threatening to rip out my father’s heart for me to finally agree to consummate our relationship and get intimate with him.

Charles’s madness didn’t stop there, if anything, it only amplified. He had to be the most jealous man I had ever encountered because I always refused to give in to the mate bond and cultivate an actual relationship with him, which made him livid.

When he saw me laughing with any of the staff in his mansion he would get angry and fire them on the spot until he no longer had any of his help attending to me and he was the one taking up all of their positions just so that he could get closer to me.

To him, I was his and his only in every way possible, and at first, it terrified me to my bones until the days came when I realized that I really had no choice anymore.

Soon, I began to give in just to make the situation between us seem better, and so when he would ask, “Who do you belong to, Anastasia?”

I always swallowed all my pride, replying, “You, Alpha Charles.”

His smile after was always the same, appearing half intoxicated and half sober all at the same time. “And I belong to you my Luna. Always.”

But one day, all of that changed.

On a sunny afternoon, when Alpha Charles had left me in our private mansion to attend to pack matters with the elders, I met Esmeralda. Only the moon goddess could explain why someone so vile could have a name as beautiful as that.

When the woman stumbled into my room, my face lit up and my first thought was that Alpha Charles had probably begun to trust me enough to assign me maids again, but I couldn’t have been more wrong.

“Good afternoon! I’m so happy to see you. What’s your name?” The words were quick to rush out of my mouth the moment I laid eyes on the woman, but when her lips began to form a scowl, I began to regret my words immediately.

The strange woman scoffed.

“The name is Esmeralda and unfortunately for you, I am not happy to see you,” Esmeralda hissed.

Before I got to ask what she meant, Esmeralda turned towards my bedroom door, “Girls! Come in. I want you to see the latest trash I found!”

As soon as the cruel words left her mouth, about six women came in, with similar scowls on their faces and a sense of foreboding grew in my chest.

Clutching my bedsheets even tighter, I asked, “W-who are you people? What… what is going on?”

Once again, Esmeralda scoffed, as if my questions were only annoying her further. “I am Alpha Charles’ girlfriend and soon-to-be Luna and you my dear, are an imposter, and these girls here, are specialists in helping me get rid of imposters.”
