On Mother's Day, I Took My Mother-in-law to Buy Gold
Chapter 2
At noon, I was preparing to go home to get something.
Just as I reached the door, I heard my mother-in-law's loud voice complaining about me.
"You don't know how malicious my daughter-in-law is. She instigated my son to purchase accidental insurance, and she is the beneficiary! I don't know what she is thinking. Also, recently my son took my grandson to kindergarten, which should have been a good thing. But my daughter-in-law insisted on saying that my son was meddling in other people's business. When I tried to advise her, she poured hot porridge all over me. Our Gates family is really unfortunate to have such a daughter-in-law!"
The neighbor murmured in agreement, and my mother-in-law started speaking again.
"I am really unlucky. I lost my husband at an early age, and it was not easy for me to raise my children. But now, my daughter-in-law is giving me a hard time. This morning, she even called me an old widow and complained that I am a nuisance in this house. She wants me to go back to my hometown."
She started crying with a sob as she spoke.
"The clothes I'm wearing were bought two years ago. My son bought me a necklace because he felt sorry for me. Today, my daughter-in-law had a big fight with my son and told me to move out of this house within three days. I really can't go on living! Sob sob sob..."
It turned out that she had been orchestrating everything behind my back, no wonder people in the community didn't really pay attention to me.
I turned the doorknob and opened the door.
In their surprised and embarrassed expressions, I calmly sat on the sofa.
"Keep talking, I didn't even realize I was such a terrible daughter-in-law. What you said is so accurate that I feel like slapping myself."
My mother-in-law felt a little embarrassed and stood up to call those aunts to go back first.
Afraid that I would say one more word and expose her lie.
"Don't be afraid, girl. We're all here today. Let's see what she can do to you!" One of the red-haired aunties looked at me angrily, as if she was defending me.
I sneered and laughed.
"Am I abusing her? If so, then throw away everything that I bought for you."
I went to the utility room and took a hammer.
They thought I was going to get violent, so they all took a step back.
And I bypassed them and headed towards my mother-in-law's room.
Smash open the treasure chest she locked.
Suddenly, the golden jewelry was exposed in front of everyone.
My mother-in-law loved gold the most, so I gave her one or two pieces every month.
In the shocked eyes of everyone, I opened my mother-in-law's wardrobe again.
Inside were all new clothes without price tags.
Turning around again, tears were streaming down my face.
"Mom, touch your conscience and tell me, have I really treated you badly? I respected you as my own mother. If I hadn't come back to get the documents today, I wouldn't have known that you would arrange things like this in front of everyone! I am really heartbroken."
I hugged my head with both hands and crouched on the ground, my shoulders trembling.
Because I was afraid that I couldn't help but laugh.
Everyone started to criticize my mother-in-law.
Especially the aunt who just stood up for me.
"Sister, you've gone too far! You actually deceived us like this. Such a good girl, you you you. I was planning to introduce you to Patrick next door who has been a widower for many years, but it seems unnecessary now!"
After saying that, everyone left angrily.
The reputation of my mother-in-law in this community was completely ruined.
I knew Patrick next door, he is so handsome, even though he is old, he still has six-pack abs.
I stole a glance at my mother-in-law's expression, and she was indeed extremely regretful.
I held the hand of my aunt and refused to let go.
But my aunt pushed me away and fell to the ground.
Fortunately, most people now were normal.
After learning that my mother-in-law had deceived them, everyone deliberately distanced themselves from her.
Now, even when going downstairs to dance in the square, no one was willing to stand with her within three meters.
I had to say, the isolation and violence in the community really tested people's mentality.
My mother-in-law had been sulking for several days and hadn't picked a fight with me anymore.
But she didn't change her ways.
She was holding back for a bigger move.
She just hadn't found the opportunity yet.
