My Wife Forced Me to Donate a Kidney to Her Lover
Chapter 3
The lawyer was Yolanda. She was the most famous divorce lawyer in the city.
"Nice to meet you, Mr. Lake!
I'm sorry to disturb you at such a late time. But I have a few questions to ask you."
"Go ahead!" I nodded.
"First question, are you divorcing Winnie to divide up her property?"
I frowned. Although I was dissatisfied with her question, I understood that it was normal for her to think that way.
After all, Winnie was a well-known rich woman in the city, and I was just an ordinary person.
"Of course not. I just want to divorce her."
"Well, the second question, have you ever done anything wrong to Winnie in marriage?"
"Never!"
I answered quickly in a firm tone.
During the five years of marriage, I have never done anything wrong to Winnie. Instead, she took my meticulous care for granted.
If either of us had to apologize, it would be her.
"Then last question."
Yolanda looked at me and said in a relaxed tone,
"This is a private question. Mr. Lake, you can choose not to answer.
Then why do you wanna divorce Winnie?"
I hesitated for a moment and slowly told her my experience.
After listening, Yolanda was filled with indignation.
"She's gone too far! I, as a woman, feel that it's too much!"
Don't worry, Mr. Lake. You can count on me. I will try my best to help you get what you deserve."
I shook my head.
I didn't care about the money. I just wanted to divorce Winnie as soon as possible.
When we walked out of the cafe, we saw Winnie and Chris.
The two of them held each other's arms, talking and laughing intimately.
I looked at them expressionlessly.
If it were in the past, I would have been angry. But at this point, in my eyes, they were no more than strangers. What they did had nothing to do with me.
"She's not divorced yet, but she's with another man. Isn't she too impudent?"
Yolanda couldn't stand it and snorted coldly.
Winnie turned around and was stunned when she saw me. When she saw Yolanda beside me, she immediately stepped forward angrily and questioned me,
"Who is she?"
Before I could speak, Yolanda spoke first.
"Hello, Miss Stuart, I'm Yolanda, Mr. Lake's attorney!"
"Attorney?"
Winnie suddenly looked at me.
"Zayn, are you really going to divorce me?"
"Do you think I'm joking?"
Winnie took a deep breath.
"Zayn, stop messing around. We can discuss this properly."
She still thought that I was making trouble.
Perhaps I was too kind to her in the past, which made her feel that I didn't dare to divorce her.
"I have nothing to discuss with you. I'm going to divorce you anyway."
"Zayn, you've gone too far!"
Chris rushed forward and shouted at me with a furious expression.
"You're lucky to marry Winnie. How dare you divorce her! You have no right to do so!"
"Lucky? I don't think so."
I stared coldly at Chris.
"Shut up. The divorce is between me and her. You get in our marriage. You have no right to judge me!
And don't you want me to divorce her? You'll be happy with it, won't you? So why you pretending to be angry?"
Chris's face flushed red from my words.
"Enough!"
Winnie stared at me and took out her mobile phone with one hand.
"Zayn, I'll give you one last chance, or I'll stop paying for your mother's medicine immediately."
She was threatening me with my mother again!
I was furious! It was not the first time that Winnie had threatened me with my mother. I had to bit the bullet before for my mother's health.
But at this point, I was fearless.
"Whatever."
"Fine, Zayn, you made me!"
Winnie gritted her teeth and dialed the hospital's number with resentment.
She put it on speaker and heard the doctor ask in surprise, "Miss Stuart, your mother-in-law has passed away for a few days. Don't you know about it?"
