My Wife Divorced Me at the Auction, I Made Her Regret

At a high-profile charity auction, Douglas faces ultimate public humiliation when his own wife openly sides with her assistant, Johan Liberty. Both men desire the same painting, but instead of allowing a fair bidding war, Douglas's wife lights the bid lamp for Johan, sneeringly reminding her husband of his lowly status as a mere live-in son-in-law. Pushed to his limit, Douglas decides he is done staying quiet, shocking the entire room by bidding exactly one dollar more than whatever his wife offers.

Chapter 5

"Savannah, don't rush. Let's talk about money later. Although I agreed to divorce you, the auction still has to continue. I just bid twenty million and one dollar, Savannah, do you plan to keep going?" From what I knew of Savannah, she had an extremely strong sense of pride.

When she saw I was still competing for that painting, her face instantly darkened, "Douglas, I'm warning you, don't refuse a toast only to drink a forfeit."

I raised an eyebrow at her and waved dismissively, completely unfazed, "What's wrong? The mighty Chairwoman of Mason Group is scared off by just twenty million?"

Provoked by my words, Savannah flared up on the spot, "Fine! I want to see how long you can keep acting tough! Thirty million!"

I replied, "Thirty million ... and one dollar!"

Savannah glared fiercely at me and raised the bid again, "Fifty million!" As the bidding escalated, sweat began to bead on her forehead.

I sneered and spoke slowly, "Savannah, since we're all here for charity, why don't we go all out? I bid one hundred million!" As soon as I said that, the entire venue erupted.

Sure, everyone present had a net worth over a hundred million, but having that much in cash was a whole different story.

Savannah was stunned by my sudden show of dominance and didn't respond for a long time.

Just then, Johan, who had been quiet for a while, stepped forward, "Loser, this is an auction, not a number game. Anyone can shout one hundred million, can you actually come up with it?"

As soon as he finished, a glint of light flashed in Savannah's eyes, "Johan is right. Why should I match whatever number you call out?"

Halfway through her sentence, she gave me a sinister smile, "Douglas, don't say I didn't warn you, if you can't pay up later, you'll face legal consequences."

Right after she spoke, Johan raised the microphone and began riling up the guests, "Miss Mason is right, we demand proof of funds on the spot!"

Seeing the bloodshot craze in Johan's eyes, the corners of my mouth curled into a faint smirk, "After all that fuss tonight, you finally asked the right question."
