My Useless Scumbag Husband
Chapter 4
I never believed a person could be so heartless until I saw one now, not to mention it was my husband.
Had he always been like this? Was I blind? Did I marry a different man back then? Good Lord! I can barely recognize him now.
Andrew, wanting me to apologize to the woman who disrespectfully dug up my son's grave, got me sneering at them like a madman.
"And why would I do that?"
Provoked, Claire interjected.
"Babe, didn't you always say your wife was kind and generous? What happened? Look at her now, acting like a lunatic. If I were you, I would never go out with her. So embarrassing!"
Andrew mirrored Claire's disgust. "Did you hear her? Stop embarrassing me, go home, and be with Matthew. How could you even leave him alone?!"
Oh, wow. Look who's talking.
I stared at him, teeth gritted. "Do you even care about Matthew?"
"Of course! What kind of dumb question is that? I may be busy, but I work hard for him. He is my only son, and all my assets will be his. When he gets married, I'll give him the best gift even you can't give."
Andrew's words hit a nerve. And this time, I couldn't hold back.
Not anymore.
"Bullshit! Stop pretending, Andrew. If you cared, you wouldn’t have left him alone for Claire. He was only six for Pete's sake! Did you ever think about how helpless he felt at that train station?"
"Damn it! Why are you so annoying? Stop making everything a big deal! You're never going to stop, are you?" Andrew finally snapped.
Then, he kicked the urn next to the dirt pile. It rolled, scattering ashes everywhere.
Watching that, my mind went blank.
When Matthew was hit by that train, my heart broke. But seeing his ashes destroyed by his father? The pain was unbearable.
What a monster.
Just then, a gust of wind blew, scattering Matthew's ashes further.
"Fuck, no!"
I struggled to break free from the guards to grab my son's floating ashes.
But, silly me. How can hands hold ashes?
They disappeared, just like Matthew.
I knelt on the ground, trying to gather his remaining ashes from the soil.
"They're just a pile of stranger's ashes, Emily. Why are you making such a scene? If you want to stop Milo from being buried, fine! You don’t need to do this! You're so disgusting!"
Evil as she was, Claire stepped forward, crushing the ashes under her foot.
"Go away!" I shouted as I stood up and pushed Claire so hard that she fell to the ground.
What happened next? Just as I expected, of course.
Andrew slapped me across the face for the very first time.
I didn't feel the pain though. My heart hurt far more.
"So you left Matthew alone just to harass Claire? Emily, you're crazy! How did Matthew end up with a petty mother like you?"
Andrew was livid, and he didn't stop.
"You like crying over stranger's ashes, right? Then cry. Starting today, I’m taking Matthew away. You don’t deserve to be his mother."
After saying that, he took out his phone and called someone. Probably his secretary.
"Tricia, take Matthew to my villa immediately, and don't let Emily near him. Are we clear?"
We were at the cemetery, so it was quiet. No one dared to talk, so we could all hear Tricia when she spoke.
"Sir Andrew, I'm afraid I can't do that..." she said, clearly hesitant.
Why?
Is it hard to announce that my son is dead?
Let him hear it, though.
Tell him he's the reason that his son is dead.
Tell him everything, so I can watch him in pain for once.
"Why not?" Andrew asked, clueless of what was coming.
I wonder how this jerk would react.
"Matthew died when he was hit by the train the day you were supposed to bring him home. The grave full of daisies where Miss Claire wanted to bury her dog was also where Matthew's ashes were."
