Chapter 6

After that night, Johnathan went home less and less frequently.

Mary kept urging me to come back home.

After I finished talking to Johnathan on the phone, I asked him to deal with his work first and go back home with me when he was free.

So today I carried the gifts back home alone.

Before I even entered the room, Emily and Mary's laughter could be heard through the door.

There was no doubt that Kevin's sweet words made them happy.

I pushed the door open and the laughter stopped abruptly.

Emily was leaning intimately on the sofa with her arms around Kevin, and when she saw me, she turned her face away.

"Mom, the busiest woman is back. She didn't even bring her husband with her."

Mary looked unhappy and said, "Why isn't your husband here? Is it because you are not welcomed in his family that no one wants to accompany you?"

I put down the gifts I brought back and opened the shoe cabinet to change my shoes.

But I found that my shoes were gone.

Emily laughed and said, "You're married. How can you expect our family to keep your things?"

Mary also agreed, "You don't come back often, so I threw away your shoes, or they would take up space."

"The house is quite clean, you can come in barefoot."

I saw that they were all wearing slippers.

"Is it clean?"

I closed the shoe cabinet and touched the door.

I rubbed my fingers and stepped in with my shoes. "I don't think it's very clean. Look, there's still dust on my fingers."

After saying that, I looked at Emily and said, "Emily often comes home, and she doesn't even help mom clean up. She lives so close from here. If I knew this, I would have hired the nanny to come and help mom clean up."

As they listened, their expressions kept changing.

"Stella, don't act so arrogant. I gave you this good life. Don't be so shameless."

Emily roared in frustration.

When I heard this, I sneered and said, "Emily, Kevin is still here, but you are talking like this. Do you look down on Kevin?"
