My Mate Registered His Mistress as Luna Before Me Novel Cover

My Mate Registered His Mistress as Luna Before Me

Three drops of Isla’s blood stain the marble, and the wrongness she has smelled in her own house finally has a name. Her sister lies clawed and pinned in the fitting corridor, held down by Isla’s own Beta, Laurel Herrera, reciting a command that belongs only to the Alpha’s mate. Not to Isla. Someone has claimed her place as Luna, and every wolf in the territory is obeying. When Isla orders Laurel off her sister, her voice drops into the kind of quiet that comes right before a reckoning. A rejected mate, a stolen title, and a pack that chose the wrong woman—this is the werewolf romance where loyalty is tested in blood.

Chapter 1

Isla's blood hit the marble at nineteen minutes past four, three bright drops that looked almost decorative against the white stone, and that was the moment I stopped being able to pretend I didn't smell something wrong in my own house.

I'd been in the west study when the screaming started. By the time I reached the fitting corridor, my sister was already on the floor, her sleeve torn open, four ragged claw lines scored red across her forearm. She was laughing an hour ago when she arrived, arms full of lace samples, telling every pack member who passed that her big sister had the best eye for fabric in three territories. I'd heard the compliments drift down the hall like something warm. Now Laurel Herrera had both knees planted on Isla's shoulders, pressing her into the stone, reciting in that flat clipped voice she used for ward inspections: "Alpha's mate's command. Stand down."

My Beta. Pinning my sister. On someone else's order.

"Get off her." My voice came out quiet. It always came out quiet. Five years of learning that quiet was the only volume Beckett let me keep.

Bethany Lynch turned from the doorway where she'd been standing, chest heaving, claws still out and wet. I knew her name the way you know a face in the kitchens — low-ranking, easy to overlook, easy to forget. She wasn't easy to overlook now.

"Touch your own neck, fraud," she said, and dragged her collar aside with two fingers.

The mark on her throat glowed. Not scarred-over, not faded — alive, pulsing gold-warm light with every beat of her heart, a bond-bite that breathed. I had read about that glow in old texts and never once seen it on my own skin, because my skin had never had anything to glow.

"Touch it, Elise." Isla's voice cracked up from the floor, wet with tears and fury. "Touch your mark."

My hand rose on its own, the same nervous habit I'd carried for five years, fingers finding the collar of my shirt. I pressed against my throat.

Cold. Smooth. Nothing.

No scar. No pull. No door that had ever opened, because there had never been a door at all.

Twelve people watched me discover, in real time, that I had spent five years married to a wound that didn't exist.

Beckett arrived flanked by four warriors before I could make a sound, and something in his face — a flicker of calculation, quick and cold — told me he'd already decided what came next.

"KNEEL." The Alpha tone hit the corridor like a physical wall, and my knees buckled toward the stone before I'd chosen anything. My body wasn't mine anymore; it belonged to a command bred into wolves before I was born, and it dragged me down inch by inch while my mind screamed the whole way.

"You will accept demotion to Omega," Beckett said, voice booming through the hall, "and relinquish every claim to this pack, or I will reject you where you stand." He straightened, chin lifting, and began the words that would sever whatever hollow, fraudulent thread had ever bound us. "I, Beckett Crane, Alpha of the Silverfang Pack, reject you, Elise Ashford—"

My knees hit the first inch of stone.

And then something under my ribs that had slept for twenty-eight years opened its eyes.

My spine locked straight against the pull of his tone like a rod driven through steel. My vision washed silver at the edges, then flooded gold-white through the center, and a growl tore up out of my chest so low the floor answered it, a tremor running through stone that had stood for a hundred years. Bone cracked along my arms — not pain, not exactly, more like a door finally being kicked open after being nailed shut — and silver fur rippled up under my skin as my body stretched, expanded, reshaped itself into something the corridor had never been built to hold.

The scent that rolled off me hit the room a half-second later. I felt it leave me before I understood what it was — clean, high, ancient, unmistakably royal.

Every knee in that hallway hit the floor at once, whether it wanted to or not. Laurel's knees cracked against the marble beside Isla. Bethany staggered sideways into the wall, her glowing mark suddenly dim beside the light pouring off my skin. Beckett's four warriors dropped in perfect unison, a wave of submission none of them chose.

Beckett did not kneel. He stumbled back a full step instead, the rejection vow dying somewhere behind his teeth, his mouth still open on the shape of my name.

"What," he said, voice cracking clean in half, "are you—"

He never finished the question. Nobody in that corridor was going to answer him.
