Chapter 1

After a bird decided to drop a load of crap on my face, I realized my mouth had been "blessed."

While doing the laundry, I casually said, “Wouldn’t it be nice if the washing machine could shake out some money?”

To my shock, the washing machine actually spat out fifty thousand yuan.

Then, I muttered under my breath, “Well, if the window were open, could the wind blow money into my house too?”

I was just joking.

But then, a gust of wind blew my window open, and countless bills fluttered into my living room.

I couldn’t believe it—I had developed the power to summon cash.

...

After finishing the college entrance exams, my mom, suffering from depression, overdosed on sleeping pills and slipped into a coma.

I went to my dad, asking for child support to cover her hospital bills.

But when I walked in, I was met by my dad’s mistress, Tina, who didn’t hold back with her insults.

“Oh, look who it is—Clara. Running out of money already?”

I gave her a once-over and replied, “Don’t you guys have any money for air fresheners?”

“What do you mean by that? You want money from me too?” she snapped.

“No wonder the air always smells like trash around here,” I shot back.

Tina, furious, started to march toward me, but just then, my dad appeared.

He quickly tried to play the injured party. “Clara, you’re being too sensitive. I just wanted to know if you’ve run out of money. If so, Auntie can help you out.”

Seeing this, my dad rushed forward and scolded, “Clara, what’s your problem? You can’t talk to people without being rude. Tina may not be perfect, but she’s your elder. You should at least show some respect.”

“Respect? What do you expect me to call her? The third-wife aunt?” I sneered at Tina, who, for some reason, started wiping fake tears from her eyes.

My dad, now fuming, was about to lecture me when his precious daughter, Kitty, rushed in.

“Big sister, it's bad enough that you disrespect my mom, but now you’re disrespecting Dad too?”

“My mom only asked you about money because she thought you came here empty-handed. You’ve really hurt Dad’s feelings.”

Kitty’s voice, sweet and sickening, made my skin crawl.

“Look at your sister, Clara. She’s so thoughtful,” my dad praised.

“You always come empty-handed. Why not bring a fruit basket for once, like you used to?” he added, shaking his head.

I clenched my fists. “In three months, I turn eighteen. Give me the full child support at once. I won’t come begging for money again.”

My dad was furious. “What, are you planning to cut ties with me after you get the money? Ungrateful little brat.”

“Back then, I asked you to stay with me, but you insisted on going through all that crap with your mom.”

I smirked. “I’m afraid of crowded places—can’t stand being around so many scheming people.”

My dad threw two thousand yuan at me. “You’re probably just going to waste it. From now on, the child support will come monthly, and not a penny more.”

My dad worked at a bank, so we were far from poor.

Mom had suffered complications during childbirth, and after I was born, she couldn’t have any more kids.

My grandmother secretly found my dad another woman, and they had another daughter.

When I was seventeen, my parents divorced because that woman gave my dad a son.

As I left my dad’s place, a bird took aim and dropped its poop right into my mouth.

I gagged and knelt on the ground, vomiting for a while.

“Hey! What the hell are you doing? Why are you puking right outside our shop?”

“I’m sorry! I just couldn’t hold it in. I’ll clean up in a second.”

The guy, noticing my red eyes, didn’t say much more.

After I finished cleaning, he handed me a bottle of water his brother had given me.

I couldn’t help but cry again. “Thank you. What’s your name?”

“I’m Sean, and that’s my brother, Zane.”

“Sean, come on. Dinner’s ready,” Zane called impatiently.

Just then, my stomach betrayed me, growling loudly enough for everyone to hear. I wanted to disappear into the ground.

Sean quickly turned around and said, “Zane, let her join us for dinner too.”
