My Husband's Secret Identity
Chapter 3
I had no idea how I woke up, but I think my stomach was growling. As soon as I opened my eyes, my husband was right beside me.
The slight restlessness I felt before going to bed vanished.
He slept like a log, which was unusual, but seeing him there filled me with so much joy that I didn't consider it.
I climbed over him and traced his eyebrows and eyes with my fingers.
He was very handsome and with his eyes closed, he looked like any other person.
But as soon as he opened his eyes, there was always a hint of mischief in them, which was incredibly alluring.
I was probably captivated by his gaze.
Of course, I also took the first step in pursuing him.
He was a tough nut to crack. It took me a lot of effort.
Fortunately, I finally got him.
I loved him so much that holding him made me feel like I had the whole world in my arms.
I couldn't help but lean in and kiss him. Just as I was about to pull away, he woke up and I felt heartbroken.
I kept nudging him during breakfast, but he just smiled and indulged me, holding me close and feeding me. He only ate his meal after I was full.
After breakfast, he went to work as usual and I caught up on my sleep. When I woke up, I went for some beauty treatments and a spa session and took care of my health.
While at the spa, I met an attractive woman.
Well, she was gorgeous, had a sweet voice and was also good at speaking. She was a total package.
Since she was also good, we became good friends. Her name was Dahlia.
We exchanged contact information and planned to go shopping together next time.
While shopping, I unexpectedly bumped into my husband.
He was checking out the mall, dressed in a suit. Tall, distinguished and handsome, his eyes shifted from icy to mischievous, brimming with charm.
I regretted coming out with her. First, her presence was magnetic, too beautiful. Secondly, my husband was also good and attractive.
Of course, I trusted my husband's loyalty and love. Still, those few nights he mysteriously vanished left a nagging worry in my heart.
I even wondered if Dahlia, who reached out to me, had some sort of hidden agenda.
Lately, there seemed to be mistresses deliberately targeting the main character.
Could she be the reason my husband vanished those nights?
She was strikingly beautiful, with all the qualities to be a third party and tempt men.
I couldn't help but glance at Dahlia beside me and see her eyeing my husband.
And the way she looked at my husband was different.
In a fit of rage, I could no longer stop myself from pushing her, saying, "What the hell is wrong with you?!"
She was filled with confusion. She withdrew her gaze from my husband and turned to look at me. She asked back, "What's wrong? You suddenly burst out your frustration on me even if I did nothing to you."
I wouldn't deny being a bit puzzled and since she didn't know that person was my husband, it didn't seem fair to be too furious with her.
But I couldn't rule out that she might have known and was deliberately trying to provoke me.
Not knowing what to do, I was fuming and took out my phone to send my husband a message, [Come here.]
I watched him pull out his phone and then suddenly halt.
The men in suits and leather shoes who followed him also came to a stop.
He looked around and seemed to be looking for me.
I stood beside Dahlia without moving, waiting for my dear husband to find me. I wanted to test whether he knew the woman I was with and whether they had an affair.
Sure enough, he found me quickly, lowered his head and explained something to the men in suits beside him.
The suited men continued and he turned around and headed toward me. He started walking fast but then suddenly paused.
I saw him glance at the young lady next to me. However, he stopped when he saw Dahlia next to me.
I was horrified, almost confirmed that he knew the woman beside me.
As much as I didn't want to be an overthinker, negativities entered my mind and everything went chaotic.
I was fuming with rage and aware Beckett indeed had a problem.
I shot him a hurt look and turned to leave. As I walked away, I broke into a run.
By the time Beckett caught up with me, I had already left the mall. He wrapped his arms around me from behind and I struggled against him, feeling completely out of sorts.
Since he didn't understand, he questioned me, "Baby, what's wrong? Can you tell me?"
I tried to ignore him, resisting his attempt to hug me.
He held me tighter and sighed, "I came right over as soon as I got your message. I just had a bit of trouble finding you and wasted some time. I'm not mad anymore, okay?"
I wasn't mad about that. So why was I angry? Didn't he get it?
I was about to cry in a river.
Dahlia also came out at that moment.
Beckett didn't look back, but I could tell that something had changed in him. His body seemed more tense. He tightened his grip on my arm.
I even caught him glancing back.
Overcome with emotion, I burst into tears and shouted, "You jerk!"
