My Husband's First Love Murdered My Son
Chapter 5
With a revengeful mindset, I drove to the Hayes place.
To be honest, even though I was Mrs. Hayes, I had barely come here.
The reason was that I was a commoner, and they were elites.
Vita held Rita's hand and sat at the main seat of the large round table. They were chatting and laughing.
Austin's gentle gaze never left Rita's face.
If outsiders were to see, they would definitely say that those two were a perfectly matched couple.
As I walked in, the lively atmosphere at the table instantly turned cold.
I had long been used to it.
After all, in their eyes, Rita was a match for Austin, but she didn't get to be his wife. It was all thanks to me, the scheming woman, who played tricks to climb up the social ladder.
The dining table was so big, but there were no extra chairs.
Vita glanced at me and remained silent.
Then she praised, "Bobby usually scores over 700 in the mock exams. He will definitely score the highest on the SAT and bring glory to our family!"
Saying that, she sighed with relief, "Fortunately, Bobby inherited Austin's excellent genes. I was so worried to see his genes being contaminated with someone's inferior genes."
I was already immune to her sarcasm and silently rolled my eyes.
Austin was unhappy and said to me with a frown.
"What my mom said is the truth. What's that attitude?"
He glanced behind me and frowned. "Today is for celebrating Bobby's performance in the SAT. Why are you here alone? Do you think this is about you?"
I had a calm expression and asked, "During those three years Bobby was in high school, you have never been there for him for a day. You only come to boast that you are Bobby's father when you know he might be the higher scorer? Does that make you noble?"
Austin hated it the most when others called him hypocritical. He immediately got angry, stood up, and pointed at my nose to scold me.
"Who do you think you are? You live off my family! You parasite. Who do I work hard for? I wanna provide Bobby with a comfortable life!"
"Stop flattering yourself," I sneered. "The company has managers to handle things. You didn't accompany Bobby because you were busy with another woman. You even forgot the way home!"
As I said this, everyone present gasped and stared at me with wide eyes in disbelief.
None of them could have imagined that the woman they had abused for 18 years would one day reveal their true colors without mercy. After all, in their eyes, I was just a pushover.
Austin was embarrassed by me, and he pulled an extremely long face.
"I asked Bobby to take a taxi to the exam by himself. So what? He's 18. Can't he be independent for once?"
Rita took the opportunity and echoed, "Yvette, spoiling him is what harms him. He took a taxi to the exam alone. It's not a big deal. You really don't have to keep holding onto this.
"For the sake of argument, even though you are angry with Austin, you still shouldn't stop Bobby from coming here today. After all, today is a celebration dinner specially arranged by Vita for Bobby. You have been making a fuss about trivial matters. It's not about you!"
Hearing this, Vita looked at me with even more disgust in her eyes. She impatiently urged me.
"I wanna see Bobby! Stop wasting time! He's my precious grandson, and you raised him. Otherwise, I would have kicked you out already! You have no right to stand in front of me and make a fuss!
"Austin, after the SAT results are released, and Bobby finishes the interview, divorce this woman! Otherwise, if it gets out that the top scorer of the Hayes family has a mother who is a shameless troublemaker, we will be a laughingstock."
The family's relatives present echoed, "Indeed. Yvette is so embarrassing. She's petty and calculative. Don't let her influence Bobby."
"In my opinion, Austin and Yvette should have divorced a long time ago. Only someone as gentle, considerate, and understanding as Rita is worthy of being Bobby's mother."
Austin nodded in agreement, and he and Rita exchanged affectionate glances.
They kept urging me, saying, "Let Bobby come out! The embarrassing woman should get out of here! I wanna see the top scorer! He brings glory to our family!"
At the same time, I took out my backpack, took out and lifted up a photo frame with a black and white photo, and placed it in the center of the hall cabinet.
"Bobby is right here!
"What is it? You can't see him? Then you might as well die! Then you can see him!"
Seeing the photo of Bobby, everyone present fell silent.
When I cursed them to die, their faces immediately turned sullen, and they looked at me with great hatred.
Just as they were about to speak, a group of people dressed in black suddenly appeared at the door.
"Yvette, what are you doing?"
