My Husband Used My Father's Life to Clear His Name Chapter 1

My father, Daniel Mitchell, was concerned about my husband, Mason Murphy, working overtime on the weekend, so he prepared meals and delivered them to his workplace.

However, Daniel accidentally caught Mason fooling around with his female secretary, Tiffany Reed.

Then, Daniel turned and left in anger.

Mason was afraid that the matter would be ruined, so he pushed him down the stairs in desperation.

As I rushed to the hospital, Daniel was still holding the meals tightly in his hand.

He held my hand with all his strength.

"Skylar, it was me who accidentally fell. If Mason truly cares about you, don't let my actions affect your relationship..."

He closed his eyes forever before he finished speaking.

I was heartbroken and called Mason dozens of times.

He finally answered the phone, and a female voice came from the other end.

"Mr. Murphy, do you prefer a bunny costume or a maid costume?"

I was so angry that my whole body trembled. "You scoundrel! Mason, let's get divorced!"

——

Tiffany cried and said, "Skylar, Mr. Murphy is too tired from work. I just asked him to dress up as a Barbie doll with me. Please don't misunderstand him!"

Mason snatched the phone, and his tone was very impatient.

"You have a dirty mind, so everything you see appears filthy to you. Tiffany and I only have a professional relationship. It's completely innocent!

"Don't just believe your father's one-sided words and try to defame us!"

"Daniel was a policeman after all. Didn't he teach you that you can't slander someone without evidence?"

Before I could say anything, Mason started making excuses guiltily.

Daniel had been a police officer for decades, selflessly serving the public and devoted to his duty.

My mother, Brenda Mitchell, participated in a mission that year and died heroically to protect a little boy.

From then on, Daniel played the role of both father and mother, always keeping me by his side. I spent most of my childhood in the police station.

Others had advised him to remarry, but he was always afraid that a stepmother might treat me poorly.

Later, the boy Brenda rescued couldn't find his family, so they sent him to an orphanage, but he secretly ran to my house again.

After my repeated requests, Daniel adopted the little boy, Mason Murphy.

Daniel treated him and me equally, and he was even better to him than to me.

He always said that Mason had no family, so we should give him more care.

After retiring, he couldn't stay idle and often helped us with laundry and cooking, fearing that our busy work schedules would have a negative impact on our health.

Daniel had given so much, but I never expected Mason to be so ungrateful!

I was trembling with anger and shouted at my phone, "Mason, let's get divorced!"

After a long time, I could even hear his low breathing on the phone.

"Suit yourself!"

He couldn't wait to hang up the phone, and his tone was full of impatience.

Mason never showed up until Daniel was cremated.

Looking at Daniel's photo, I burst into tears and regretted again and again why I was not the one who delivered the meal.

On the third day, Mason returned home drunk, and it looked like nothing had happened.

He fell straight onto the sofa, groaning.

"Skylar, give me a glass of honey water that Daniel made!"

Daniel cared about his excessive socializing and was concerned about his health. He specifically sought advice from a friend who was a doctor and prepared honey water for Mason.

Whenever Mason had a social event, Daniel would prepare some honey water in advance and keep it warm.

Whenever he came back, there would be honey water at just the right temperature waiting for him.

But now, Daniel was gone, and everything was gone.

I was so immersed in the sorrow of losing him that I had no intention of paying any attention to Mason.

He came over and sat next to me, rubbing his head against my arm.

"Honey, what's wrong with you? Are you still angry?

"Tiffany is young and immature, lacking discretion in her words. Don't stoop to her level of understanding.

"I was drunk that day and acted recklessly. You are a magnanimous person, so please don't get angry over such a trivial matter, okay?"

I pushed him away, feeling overwhelmed with grief and anger.

"A trivial matter? You think my dad is a trivial matter?"

It appeared that Daniel's life was so insignificant in his eyes.

Mason frowned and said impatiently, "Did Daniel tell you something?

"It was just a misunderstanding that day!

"Skylar Mitchell, I am the one living with you. The person who can accompany you till the end is me, not your father!

"Can you please stop believing his words so blindly?"

As if realizing that he had said something too much, he scratched his head, took out a small box from the bag behind him, and handed it to me.

"Open it and take a look. Do you like it?"

I glanced at it and realized that it was Givenchy 302 lipstick. This shade of red didn't suit me at all.

Since I had been involved in outdoor activities since childhood, my complexion had a healthy wheatish tone. I never used such pink lipstick shades.

And I had seen Tiffany wearing this color lipstick before.

He bought two lipsticks, one for her and one for me.

I pushed away the lipstick Mason handed me and handed him the printed divorce agreement.

"Sign it!"

He took the agreement, took a look at it, and suddenly stood up angrily.

"Skylar, I have already humbled myself to please you. Can you please stop acting superior as if everyone owes you something?

"I'm very tired from working outside every day. I don't want to go home and see your dejected face!

"If you want a divorce, fine. As long as your father personally agrees, I won't hesitate to sign the papers! That way, no one can accuse me of being ungrateful!"

But Daniel was gone and could not nod his head anymore.

Mason slammed the door and left angrily.

He always acted this way, treating me offishly at the slightest disagreement.

In the past, I loved him, and I was willing to put aside my pride and status for him to try to keep him and seek reconciliation.

But now, I felt so tired and sad that I couldn't express it in words.

This marriage ended here!
