Chapter 4

"In your dreams!"

I glared at Emily, wishing I could tear her apart for scattering my mom's ashes.

"Still being stubborn, huh? Time to teach you a lesson!"

After saying that, Michael grabbed a handful of my mom's ashes from the ground.

He grabbed my face with one hand and shoved the ashes into my mouth with the other.

I panicked right away.

I tried to fight back, but the bodyguards were too strong. No matter how hard I struggled, I couldn't break free.

I wanted to speak, but the choking feeling in my mouth stopped me. I could only spit out the ashes.

Seeing me in pain, gagging, Michael hesitated.

He stopped and signaled the bodyguards to let go.

I collapsed to the ground, staring at the ashes scattered everywhere.

Tears streamed down my face.

Watching my mom die left me with a pain that will never go away.

Now, her ashes were ruined like this.

Guilt and pain surged through me.

I felt like my whole body was breaking into pieces.

I knelt on the ground, gathering my mom's ashes, and cried bitterly,

"I'm so sorry... so sorry..."

Emily stood aside, glaring at me with disdain, and sneered, "Sarah, are you faking it? Putting on a sad show over a pile of flour. If you want to protect your mom, you don't need to use such tricks, right?"

My ears were ringing and I couldn't focus on anything else. I just kept gathering the ashes on the ground and putting them into the urn.

"Sarah, have you had enough of crying over a pile of flour? Don't you feel disgusted?"

Michael looked down at me and said, annoyed, "Instead of acting like a maniac, you might as well ask your mom to hand over Emily's stuff."

I glared at Michael with red eyes and shouted angrily, "Michael Scott, you're an animal!"

"Michael, you said Sarah and her mom were good to you. In my opinion, it's all fake. Look at them, one sneaking around behind your back, and the other cursing you in public. Neither of them are good people!"

Hearing this, a flash of anger crossed Michael's face.

He stepped forward, crushing my mom's ashes under his foot, and spoke coldly,

"Sarah, I always thought your mom was honest and kind. For years, I treated her like my own mother, caring for her and doing whatever she asked."

"But what does she do? She becomes a thief and breaks the law!"

"This isn't just embarrassing me; it's trampling on my sincerity!"

"Since you're pretending to be crazy and refusing to hand her over, I'll find her myself!"

He took out his phone and ordered coldly, "Zac, do whatever it takes to find Sarah's mom and bring her here."

Assistant Zac paused on the other end of the phone, then hesitantly said, "Mr. Scott, don't you know? Sarah's mom has passed away."

Michael's expression froze, and he stammered, "What... what did you say?"

"Sarah's mom passed away a week ago. She died on the way to buy you a mango cake."

"She has already booked a cemetery today and is preparing to bury her mom's ashes."
