Chapter 1

For three consecutive years, Nate Jackel had a wedding dress customized each year and gifted it to the woman he loved most.

When reporters asked me how I felt, I looked at the trending headlines filled with this so-called "true love" hype and sneered.

“What’s there to praise about an affair between a cheating husband and his mistress?”

That night, Nate rented out a rooftop restaurant and had ten thousand drones launched into the sky to celebrate Grace Lawson’s birthday. In his way, he was telling the entire world that he loved her.

That was fine by me. As long as I stayed married, Grace would forever be a mistress.

My remarks about my cheating husband, Nate Jackel, and his mistress, Grace Lawson, made her cry until her eyes turned red. That very night, Nate tried to restore her dignity.

I leaned back on the couch and stared at the cold necklace placed in front of me. I laughed. Then the tears came.

It was our third wedding anniversary. Once again, Nate had sent the same necklace. Regardless of the occasion, it was always the same design.

"Wendy Keller, you broke Grace's necklace. From now on, every gift you get will be this one," he had once said.

That was his way of annoying me.

I didn't care. I snapped a photo and listed it on a resale site.

Even the previous buyer came back to mock me. "Miss, can't you switch up the style? Are you wholesaling these or what?"

I laughed too. "It's an authentic boutique item. This is the only supply channel. Make do with it."

After midnight, Nate came home. He glanced in my direction, walked straight over, and handed me a divorce agreement.

"Sign it. She's pregnant. We can't wait any longer."

I looked at him calmly. "What an impressive birthday gift. It took her three years to replace me. That was a long probation period. The benefits must be great.

"I'm stepping aside as the legal wife. Asking for half your assets wouldn't be unreasonable."

"You don't deserve it." Nate looked at me with pure disgust.

I tore up the agreement. "Whether I deserve it or not is for the law to decide. Try me. As long as I don't agree, she won't ever become your legitimate wife. No matter how much you love her, that thing in her belly will still be an illegitimate child."

I turned around and went upstairs. Downstairs, Nate smashed the coffee table.

I didn't care. It wasn't my money anyway.

I wasn't dumb. Three years ago, when that wedding dress arrived at my door, I had already checked his assets. Now he wanted to send me off with a mere four million? In his dreams!

I was being mocked publicly. Why should they get to celebrate in peace?

If I were going to be hurt, then they should be hurt as well!

I retrieved my phone and made a transfer of 140 grand. Within minutes, news about Grace being Nate's side piece shot to the top of the trending list in the middle of the night.

Nate, who had just smashed the coffee table, got a call and ran downstairs. I watched his departing back and snorted.

Nate and I had grown up together. He shouldn't have forgotten one thing. I held grudges, and I repaid every single one.

I would crush the mistress, and I would never let the cheating jerk off either.

At two in the morning, the hospital called. "Mrs. Jackel, Mr. Jackel was in a car accident. He's in the operating room."

"Is he dead?"

"No. His right leg was broken."

"Then don't bug me. He has people to take care of him."

I hung up and slept like a baby.

The next day, I didn't wake up until late morning. I put on full makeup and headed to Grace's place.

She lived with her widowed mother.

When Tina Lawson, Grace's mother, saw me, panic flashed across her face. Then smugness followed.

"This is the house my son-in-law bought. How dare you act out here?"

Before she could finish, one of my subordinates slapped her hard across the face.

I mocked her, "Like mother, like daughter. Your husband died, and you immediately went after someone else's man. You got chased and cursed like a rat in the sewer, and now you've passed every dirty trick you had down to your daughter. Impressive. Truly a family legacy."

"How dare you?!"

I waved my hand, and my subordinates dragged their suitcases right inside.

Tina panicked. "What are you doing?! This is my daughter's house!"

"Your daughter's house? She's using our marital assets. I own half of everything.

"You love inserting yourselves into other people's families so much? In that case, starting today, you can all live together."

As several young women took over the rooms, Tina screamed.

"I'm calling the police!"

"Go ahead. I'll wait."

When Nate rushed over after getting the news, my people were already throwing a party inside.

Tina sat on the floor with a swollen face. The moment she saw him, she acted as though she had just been saved.

She tried to crawl toward him, but I kicked her down with one foot.

Grace panicked. "Mom! Nate! Look at what she just did!"

Nate sat in his wheelchair with a darkened expression. "Wendy, what the hell are you doing?"
