Chapter 8

Seeing the severe dark circles under my eyes,Zack still maintained his usual hypocritical warm demeanor."You've been taking care of the baby and I know it's been tiring.Just hand him over to the nanny and rest well.Once the confinement period is over,I’ll give you a surprise."

Coincidentally, after the confinement,I would also have a surprise to give Zack.

“Thank you,honey.”

"Drink the milk first, the doctor said you need to supplement with calcium and protein after giving birth."

Under Zack's coaxing,I drank the milk that had been laced with sleeping pills.I pretended to feel drowsy and waited until the bedroom door was closed.

Then,I quickly stuck my fingers down my throat and vomited the milk I had just drunk.Less than fifteen minutes later, the caregiver pushed the baby to the bathroom.Soon, sounds of heavy breathing and restrained moans came from the guest bedroom next door.

"Zack,is this really okay?Sandra is still sleeping in the next room."

"Don't you think this is even more exciting?Am I amazing, honey?"

"Honey…Mmm…You're so bad!Harder...Yes,like that...I'm about to fly to the sky!"

"Wendy, you're so naughty. That ugly woman can't compare to even a single strand of your hair!"

"Honey,I want to change my car!"

"Buy it,we'll go to the store tomorrow to look at cars!"

Absurd sounds came from the next room, like the sharpest blades, each one cruelly cutting at my heart.

I reached under the pillow, but this time, what I found wasn’t a pair of scissors.Instead,it was the equity pledge agreement and the divorce agreement.

One hour later.

I walked out of the bedroom and ran into Zack, who was disheveled. There was a fleeting panic in his eyes, but it quickly returned to normal.

"Sandra, you're up so soon.Don't you want to sleep a little longer?"

"Mm,I slept too much during the day,so I’m a bit dizzy,"I replied,intentionally yawning.

Zack hurriedly stepped forward to massage my temples, putting on a concerned expression as he gently coaxed me,“You’ve worked so hard, honey.Once things settle down at the company,I’ll take you to the Maldives for a vacation, then to Europe for shopping as a reward for giving me a big, healthy baby boy!”

“What about the baby if we go away?”I pushed Zack away.

Zack thought for a moment, then wrapped his arm around my waist and said,“We’ve got a nanny anyway.I’ll have my mom come over to help take care of him.If you don’t trust my mom, there’s always Wendy, right?”

"How do you know Wendy can take care of a baby?"My expression darkened.

Zack held my hand and coaxed in a low voice,"Didn’t you say so yourself?Wendy is the baby’s godmother. When the two of us want some couple time,we can just leave the baby with her."

He used to claim he wasn’t close to Wendy, but now he was calling her“godmother”so intimately.

If only Zack knew that the night he had just left,Wendy had immediately hooked up with other men, what would he think then?

“Honey,my dad’s planning to buy some dividend insurance policies for the baby.Just sign these before you head to the office,”I said, pulling some documents from a folder and placing them on the table.

On top of the stack was indeed a child education insurance policy.Zack,in a rush to leave, didn’t look closely and signed his name directly in the signature field.

“Dad’s so good to the baby.I’ll have to thank him in person later.”

“Of course, the baby is their precious little treasure,”I replied, watching closely as Zack finished signing. Then I urged,“Once you’re done, head back to the office. The company’s preparing to go public. It’s hard work for you.”

“It’s nothing!”Zack adjusted his tie and hurriedly left the postpartum care center.

I looked over the agreements one more time to make sure nothing was missed, then immediately called my lawyer.
