Chapter 2

After Isaac took Chloe away, Quentin sipped his coffee and asked, "Are you going to give the Turner Group to him?"

Without looking up from my plate, I casually replied, "Do you think I'm the kind of person who repays evil with kindness?"

Quentin shook his head.

With a smile, I continued, "Prepare for the lawsuit. It won't be long before I reclaim all the property Isaac gave to Chloe."

Quentin nodded. "Okay."

After a brief pause, he added, "It's hard to imagine you marrying him."

I married a man who was ordinary and even with his mistress in front of me.

I calmly responded, "Well, I have such a wonderful father."

My life had been smooth sailing, but I had faced treachery twice.

The first time was at the hands of my father. He believed that Isaac, being hardworking, could help manage the company. So, my father used the 30% shares of the company that my mother had left him to force me to marry Isaac. In the end, those shares were given to Isaac.

My father, even in his grave state, insisted that husband and wife were one, and therefore, giving the shares to Isaac was equivalent to giving them to me.

If the doctors and nurses hadn't been watching, I would have removed his oxygen tube without hesitation.

The second betrayal came from Isaac himself. After my father's passing, I wanted to divorce him, but he refused. Moreover, the company was in turmoil at the time, and I had to rely on the 30% shares my father had given him. As a result, the divorce couldn't happen.

Shockingly, Isaac bribed a psychiatrist to diagnose me with severe anxiety disorder. Together with a few other directors of the company, they forced me to take a break, claiming that I needed rest and recuperation.

How ridiculous.

Even if they were to die, I would still remain healthy and live a long life.

Eventually, Isaac's career flourished within the company, and he even kept Chloe.

I wasn't sure how Chloe got my number, but she sent me a photo of them in bed.

She believed that it would provoke a major fight between Isaac and me, resulting in his divorce and marriage to her. However, she didn't expect that I wouldn't care at all. Isaac begged for forgiveness after their affair was exposed, promising he would leave Chloe.

However, in less than a week, knowing that I wouldn't divorce him, Isaac no longer bothered concealing his infidelity.

In response, I had been making plans secretly.

I was determined to make their lives miserable.

After parting ways with Quentin and returning to my villa, I took out a lighter, burned Isaac's physical examination report, and buried the ashes in a flowerpot.

Then, I went to bed. I had sweet dreams and woke up filled with joy.

Opening my eyes, I saw Isaac sitting on the sofa, staring at me intently.

"Awake?" Isaac rubbed his shoulder, extinguished his cigarette, and furrowed his brow. "Did you get my physical examination report?"

I calmly turned on the bedside lamp and replied, "Yes, it's in my car. I'll bring it back to you next time."

Isaac asked with concern, "Is there any problem? If not, I don't need it."

"I haven't read it yet. You can retrieve it and take a look yourself," I responded.

I knew Isaac's personality all too well. He was a typical male chauvinist who would hide any illness, believing he could live a long life.

Besides, he hated people asking him to go for a physical examination.

So he wouldn't go to my car to get the report.

As expected, Isaac frowned and changed the subject. "What are your thoughts on the Turner Group matter?"

Softening his tone, he added, "Audrey, we're a couple. No matter how I fool around with other women, you will always be my one and only wife. Chloe can't shake your position."

I nearly burst into laughter.

I wondered if Chloe would still be with him after hearing those words. After all, Isaac had promised Chloe that as long as he had control over the Turner Group, he would divorce me immediately and marry her.

Lowering my gaze, I pretended to ponder.

Isaac grew anxious. "Audrey, I know I've made mistakes and let you down, but I have thought about you. Men should go out and earn a living, while women should stay at home to take care of their husbands and children. And since we got married, you've been so indifferent towards me."

Not only was I indifferent, but I wouldn't even let him touch our bed.

How could Isaac, who aimed to marry a beautiful, wealthy woman and reach the height of success, tolerate such treatment?

He was overwhelmed and slapped me. I never expected him to dare to strike me, and my head hit the corner of the table, resulting in a cut.

Isaac approached me, cursing angrily.

Coming back to my senses, I rushed into the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, and prepared to stab him.

Seeing my seriousness, Isaac begged for mercy, crying.
