Chapter 2

When I got home, the courtyard was filled with my father's relatives, friends, and business partners.

My father Sam Lopez and his many good friends came to my house specially to bless me and Yolanda, but they didn't expect that Yolanda wouldn't show up for a long time. I lied and told them that Yolanda wanted to dress up for this grand occasion, so she was late.

As I looked at Yolanda, who was slumped in the seat, I knew that everything was messed up.

I opened the passenger door and prepared to help Yolanda out, wanting to make an excuse to cover up the matter.

I forced a smile and explained to the people present, "Yolanda is happy today. She drank a lot at the party with her classmates and got a little drunk. Mary, please take Yolanda to rest..."

"I'm not drunk!"

Before I could finish my words, Yolanda pushed my hand away and interrupted me with slurred words.

"Brian, I was just celebrating Luis' birthday. Even though he's my ex, you can't hit him!"

Although Yolanda's words were unclear due to drunkenness, everyone was shocked.

Yolanda slumped in the passenger seat, unaware of the situation she was in or what she had said.

When everyone present heard what Yolanda said, they were all shocked and then began to whisper.

I raised my head awkwardly and saw Sam's angry face. Helplessly, I had to ask Mary to take Yolanda to the bedroom to rest.

Sam had been in the business industry for decades to achieve his current success and status. He valued his dignity very much. Now that something like this had happened, both Sam and I lost face in front of his friends.

Sam was old and in poor health. I was afraid that he might get too emotional, so I prepared to comfort him.

"Dad... Please don't be angry..."

Before I could finish my words, Sam's body shook, and he suddenly loosened his hand on the cane. Then he staggered and fell to the ground, holding his chest.

Everyone present was shocked and surrounded Sam. I rushed over to support him and shouted hysterically, "Call an ambulance!"
