Chapter 4

“How’s she going to act next? Pretend to be a corpse again to scare us?”

“No need. You won’t see her again. I’ve already cremated her and scattered her ashes at sea.” Ethan tugged his brother’s arm. “Let’s ignore Iris. She’s only performing for attention. If no one reacts, she’ll have no audience.”

Father glared at me. “From now on, stay in your room and reflect! When you’ve come to your senses, apologize to your sister. Until then, no food!”

“Endure the pain if you must. We won’t call a doctor until you apologize to Clara!”

They surrounded Clara and left together.

At the door, Clara turned back and mouthed, You’ll never win.

Her provocation no longer angered me.

Because soon, I’d finally leave this place—return to my own world, reunite with Lena, and live the carefree, wealthy life my best friend promised me.

Originally, I meant to die quietly in my room, but they pushed too far. So, I decided to make them watch.

I climbed to the villa's rooftop, overlooking the pool below.

The family was laughing, tossing a ball in the water with Clara.

I sat at the edge, pulled out a fruit knife, aimed for my carotid artery, and slashed without hesitation.

Blood burst forth instantly.

Someone below shouted, “She’s going to jump!”

Everyone looked up.

Mom screamed, “Iris, what are you doing? Come down!”

Dad snorted, “Ignore her! Even if she jumps, we won’t forgive her until she apologizes to Clara!”

Brother scowled. “Iris, enough with your act! We’ve had it!”

Clara sobbed again. “Why is Iris doing this to me? Is she trying to prove I’m guilty by killing herself?”

“I can’t clear my name—so I might as well die!”

Ethan hugged her tightly. “Clara, this is exactly what Iris wants.”

Then Clara shouted, “If you’re going to jump, then do it! Stop pretending!”

Ethan added, “If you dare jump, I, Ethan, will take your surname!”

My vision dimmed from blood loss.

With my last strength, I screamed, “Then listen well—my surname is Blake!”

I leapt, crashing into the pool like a falling rock. Blood splattered across them.
